To the Lord our God belong mercy and loving-kindness and forgiveness…— Daniel 9:9 (AMPC)
Forgiven = pardoned; remitted
There were many instances in the Old Testament of God’s anger when His people, the Israelites, would complain, disobey, and worship idols and false gods. But the amazing thing is how quickly God completely forgave them—He restored all of His benefits to them as soon as they turned back to Him.
Maybe today you feel like God is angry with you. I have good news for you: He is not! His anger was removed from us through the sacrificial death of Jesus (see Romans 5:9), so when we come to Him humbly, He freely gives us His grace (see 1 Peter 5:5). God understands your weaknesses, and He’s ready and willing to forgive your sins. He knows that all of us succumb to temptations and wrong behavior at times, and He’s also a compassionate, loving Father who has provided for our forgiveness in Christ. All we need to do is ask for it, receive it, and move forward knowing we’re made right with Him.
God knew that we could never get to a point where we did everything right; that’s why He sent Jesus to pay the price for our redemption. He is not mad at you, so you can be free to accept and walk in His forgiveness today!
Prayer Starter: Father, thank You for making a way for all my sins to be paid for, and for giving me the grace I need to live a godly life. Please help me remember that You’re not mad at me, but I can always come to You for help. In Jesus’ name, amen.
