“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”Psalm 23:6 KJV
The Psalmist was saying I will keep on fellowshipping with God. I have chosen God because of Goodness and Mercy. I have total assurance of His goodness.
That word “surely” means unerringly, without missing, undoubtedly, assuredly, certainly, inevitably, absolutely, admittedly, conclusively, definitely and unshakably. It is a guarantee. David was saying I know that the grace, the goodness and the mercy of God are following me. I will live my life for God.
It is the goodness of God that leads you to repentance. It is not God’s judgment. When you know that God is good to you, it will make you love Him the more. When you understand that He is good to you, some things will become a natural manifestation to you. I heard a story of a bridge that was built in San Francisco, on the west coast of America. The bridge is called the golden bridge. When it was being built, the story says that about 20 people fell from it to their death. Eventually, when the other half of the bridge was to be built, they had to build a safety basket for the workmen. So that when you build and you fall, you fall into the basket. So, when they were building the second half, ten people fell. They fell into the basket. None of them died.
God has guaranteed your protection. God has already put a guarantee for you that no matter what happens to you, He has you covered. I can assure you that you will not fall to your death. Goodness and Mercy are surrounding you. That is why it is important to receive information and revelation. So how did David come to this revelation or conclusion? He said, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, it didn’t just come off the curve. It comes by spending time in the Word and fellowshipping with God.
