YOU CAN LIVE A HOLY LIFE
Romans 12:1-2 (NIV), 2Corinthians 7:1 (LB) …I urge you… in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. *Having such great promises as these… let us turn away from everything wrong, whether of body or spirit, and purify ourselves, living in the wholesome fear of God, giving ourselves to him alone.

God has sanctified you in Christ. To sanctify is to set apart. God has separated you unto Himself and now He wants you to separate yourself from sin and live holy unto Him. God wants you to perfect holiness out of fear (reverence) for Him. He wants you to co-operate with Him to complete the good work of sanctification that He has begun in you, (Phil.2:13). The beginning of holy living is understanding all that Jesus accomplished for us on the Cross and accepting them as our reality, (Rom.6:11). When you died on the Cross with Jesus, the nature of sin that you had was destroyed and by your resurrection with Jesus, you were raised up to a new life, (Rom. 6:4-6). The Holy Spirit will help you to live a holy life. As you yield to His leading, you will not fulfill the lusts of your flesh, (Gal.5:16). By the empowerment of the Spirit, we are able to put to death the deeds of the flesh, (Rom.8:13). Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. God lives in you, 1Cor.6:19. Choose to walk in holiness in every area of your life, beginning with the words of your mouth and your thoughts, (Psa.19:14).
Do not feed the lusts of the flesh, starve them. Feed the nature of God that is in you. God hates sin and that is why He punished sin by the death of Jesus on the Cross. Love and desire holiness as you hate and abstain from sin. Jesus loved righteousness and hated iniquity, (Heb.1:9). The Bible says that Jesus was tempted in every way and yet He was without sin. Jesus will show us His mercy if we fall (1John 2:1-2), but He can also empower us to stand and overcome sin just like He did, (Heb.4:14-16). Let your appreciation for the love and mercy that God has shown you in Christ motivate you to present your body as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable unto God.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank you that by my death with Jesus on the Cross, I am free from the nature of sin. Help me to yield myself more to you in holiness.
