YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE (2)
1John 5:13 (NIV, AMPC)
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. *I write this to you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life.
It is one thing to have something very precious and valuable and it is another to know that you have something very precious and valuable. Knowing the value of what you have has a way of making you express it and enjoy it better.
In our text above, John was telling us that the reason God led him to write the things he did was so that we would know that we have eternal life. Beloved, how conscious are you that you have eternal life? Eternal life is not about the length or duration of life, it is about the quality or nature of the life. Eternal life is the very life of God. Jesus came so that you might have the God-kind of life and you need to know that by your faith in Jesus, you have this life in you. Whether you feel like it or not, you have the God-kind of life in you and you need to know it and always declare it to yourself.
God wants you to know that it is the same God-kind of life that is in Jesus that is also in you. It is not when you get to Heaven that you will be an offspring of God. You are an offspring of God right now, (1 John 3:2). You are an offspring of God and your life is no more based on your flesh and blood or any other physical or natural reality. It is the life of God in you that determines your realities now.
Faith Declaration:
I have the God-kind of life. The same God-kind of life that is in Jesus is also in me. This life determines my reality.
