YOU SHALL BE CONTENT BUT NOT COMPLACENT
1Timothy 6:6-8, Hebrews 13:5, Philippians 3:12
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. *Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. *Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

The grace to be content is upon you this year. You will always do your best and be grateful for what you have and the grace of God that is in your life. You will be thankful always. The Bible says, “in all things, give thanks because this is the will of God concerning you in Christ Jesus,” (1Thes.5:18). This year, lack of contentment will not steal your joy. You will not let the things you don’t have yet or what has not happened yet, to stop you from being happy and rejoicing in God. You will control your appetite and the joy of the LORD will be your strength. You will be grateful and faithful with little, and God will give you more.
Now, even though you shall be content this year, you shall not be complacent. To be complacent is to relax and become lazy, because you feel you have arrived or achieved. This year, you will not allow pride or fear make you develop a complacent attitude. No matter what you have achieved so far, there is so much more that you can become, receive and achieve in life and in God. Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard and minds have not conceived the things that God has in store for you even in this year. (1Cor.2:9). Complacency can make you miss out on the greater miracles, victories and potentials that lie ahead of you. Complacency can even get you into trouble. It was when David decided to sleep at home at the time when kings went to battle that he fell into adultery with Bathsheba, (2Sam.11:1-5). I recall that when my husband, Archbishop Benson Idahosa was asked about the greatest miracle he had experienced, he said, “the next one”. He was grateful for what God was doing in his life but he did not allow that make him feel like he was so anointed so as to relax.
Prayer:
I thank you Heavenly Father for where I am, what I have and what I have done. I receive your grace today to keep pressing into greater things.
