YOU SHALL NOT BE DEVOURED

1 Peter 5:7-10 (TPT) Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you. Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour. Take a decisive stand against him and resist his every attack with strong, vigorous faith. For you know that your believing brothers and sisters around the world are experiencing the same kinds of troubles you endure.

The greatest thing in your life that the devil earnestly seeks to attack and devour is your faith in God. He knows that your faith is your life because the just shall live by faith. He knows that it is through faith you receive all that God’s grace has already provided for you. He knows that it is by faith you please God. He knows that your faith is more valuable to God than gold that is purified in the fire, (1Pet.1:7).

The major way that the devil then tries to attack and devour your faith is attacking and devouring the Word of God that is in your heart. In the parable of the sower, Jesus said the seed is the Word of God and the seeds that fell by the way side represent those who hear God’s Word and do not understand it. As a result of this, the enemy steals the word from their heart, (Matt.13:19). Every time the devil tries to confuse you and distract a believer from hearing and understanding God’s Word, it is because He wants to weaken their faith.

We should be conscious of this and refuse to allow anything and anyone confuse, distract or discourage us from filling ourselves with God’s Word. Allow the Word of God take deep root in you by strong meditation and prayers and avoid getting offended and letting go of the Word of God in time of tribulation and persecution, (Matt. 13:20-21). Do not allow the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches to choke the Word of God out of your life. As you remain persistent in holding on to God’s Word and yielding yourself to it, the Word of God will progressively produce fruit in your life and your faith will not be devoured by the devil, (Matt.13:23). Your faith will be preserved.

Faith Declaration:
My faith is my life. I jealously guard my faith by holding on tenaciously to God’s Word and by living my life by God’s Word.
