YOU WERE BORN WITH GREAT POWER AND AUTHORITY

JOHN 1:12( KJV, AMPC, TPT )

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe in his name. But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority ( power, privilege , right ) to become the children of God that is , to those who believe in (…) His name—– But those who embraced him and took hold of his name were given authority to become the children of God!

Most times when we read the scripture in our text above, what we see is that by receiving and believing in Jesus we become children of God, but there is something more than that being communicated to us there. When you got born again, you did not just become a child of God, you received the power and authority that goes with being a child of God.

Have you noticed that there are very few places in the Old Testament where the Israelites are referred to as the children of God? In fact, in most places where the terms sons of God is used in the Old Testament, it does not refer to mere human beings, like in Genesis 6:2. The Contemporary English Version uses the term supernatural beings . In Job1:6, The Contemporary English Version translates the sons of God as angels. But severally, in the New Testament, we are referred to as sons of God because of our faith in Jesus. Here’s how 1John 3:1 expresses this joy and privilege we have : “Behold, what manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us , that we should be called the sons of God…..”

This is why Jesus said the least in the kingdom is greater than John the Baptist and all who were before him, ( Matt 11:11). The least believer in Christ has power and authority over every power of the enemy, ( Luke 10:19).

Prayer:
I thank You, Dear Father that by my faith in Christ, I’ve received the great power and authority that comes with being your child.
