YOUR BIGGEST DECISION
February 24, 2024
“Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Matthew 20:28
Even though Jesus is the Creator of the Universe and the Son of God, throughout His ministry, Jesus referred to Himself as the Son of Man.
Why?
Because He didn’t come to be served, but to serve. Jesus came to give His life on the cross for all mankind.
He came to take the judgment that we all deserve for our sins upon Himself.
He experienced our shame and our regrets in order to make us right with God.
Jesus voluntarily came to earth to surrender His life for you and for me.
Now, God is very clear that the wages of sin is death. Since God is just, the penalty for sin must be paid. In the Old Testament, God allowed animal sacrifices to pay the penalty for the people’s sins. The animal took their place and paid their debt. This system continued until Jesus arrived to become the ultimate and final sacrifice to cover sin for all mankind.
Jesus upheld God’s perfect justice, while at the same time, exemplifying God’s perfect mercy in offering us complete forgiveness and a relationship with Him. For this reason, Christ sits at the right hand of the Father.
Jesus demonstrates true greatness through sacrificial love.
Our responsibility in all this is to receive the gift of forgiveness. In doing so, we are made right with God through trusting faith in Christ alone for salvation and eternal life.
Have you made the biggest decision you will ever make? If not, do so today in gratitude for Christ’s selfless love poured out for you.
