Your Genuine Proof to do God’s Will

Hebrews 1:8-9, 1 Timothy 6:6-7, Colossians 3:2-3
But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. *But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. *Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

The proof of desire is pursuit. Genuine desire starts from within, but it shows and reflects on the outside. One proof of our desire to do God’s will is that we love righteousness and hate iniquity. Your life naturally gravitates towards things you sincerely love and desire and drifts away from from things you hate and detest. If you desire to do God’s will, you must develop a deep and genuine love and passion for God’s righteous ways and truth. You must also maintain a deep and genuine hatred and disgust for all forms of sin, evil and unrighteousness. This helps you to always say ‘yes’ to all that is God’s will and to say ‘no’ to all that is outside of God’s will.

After our second text above discusses the important of contentment, the Bible goes on to declare that “… they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows” (1 Tim.6:9-10). If you desire to do God’s will, you must learn how to control your appetite. Thank God for what you have as you trust Him for increase and promotion. Do not be so desirous of pleasure and material things that you are willing to compromise your faith to secure them.

Do not envy wicked or people of this world. Such envy almost caused David to slip (Psa.73:2-4). You are not of this world. Your values, passions and affections should be different from that ot the people of this world. Do not compare yourself with others (2Cor.10:12). Focus on Christ and God’s purpose for your life.

Prayer Focus:
Tell God how much you love righteousness and hate iniquity. Ask Him to help you to be content and to control your appetite always.
