YOUR ROLE AS A MOTHER TO YOUR CHILDREN! (2)
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching. I am sure you were blessed with last week’s teaching. This week, I will focus on the best role you can play as a mother to your children.
As mothers, we must realise that our children live more by examples than instructions. So, demonstrating the virtues you want your children to imbibe is more powerful than caning or even teaching them. Your examples are what sticks with them more than the volume of words you speak. After all your points are forgotten, your examples will remain in them.
Some mothers instruct their children not to make use of abusive words, but they shout abusive words at their husbands and people who get on their nerves. They commit all manner of atrocities; yet, they teach the Word of God to their children. Remember that an ounce of example is worth a ton of preaching. You may think that they are too young to know what is happening, but they see the way you sit with your friends gossiping. There is profit in training your child effectively, and it will come in various ways; it may be monetary or otherwise.
One of such wages is joy; when you play your role as a mother to your children aright, every remembrance of them brings joy to your heart. The more you labour in bringing them up, the more reward you stand to receive.
Though the task of child-training often appears awesome, but the good news is that God will not ask you to do what is impossible. Ruth Bell Graham once said, ‘As a mother, my job is to take care of the possible and trust God with the impossible’. As you accept your responsibility and raise up godly seeds unto the Lord, you will have cause to rejoice in the future.
However, to effectively cultivate these roles, you need to be saved. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Now, I know I am born again!
