INTRODUCTION:
The scriptures tell us that Jesus Christ gives us hope and salvation, helps us to remember that our hope is in Christ alone. He is also our Light, our Power and song. Our safety depends on Jesus’ death and resurrection. His death on the cross paid for our sins and made us right with God, and His resurrection shows how powerful God is and how He has defeated sin and death. The Bible also teaches on much love and peace we can find in Christ and how safe and sure we are because He died and rose again.
The themes and truth in the song “In Christ Alone”, will help us learn how to find hope and strength in the saviour at all times through the direction of the Holy Spirit. Our relationship with Jesus will give us strength and comfort during life challenges. In addition, we will learn how to get closer to Him, feel His love, grace and presence every day.

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

  1. Understand the significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection
  2. Learn about the hope, peace and security we have in Christ
  3. Discover how to find strength and comfort in the midst of life’s challenges
  4. Learn about the importance of trusting in God’s sovereignty and plan for our lives.

BIBLE TRUTH:
QUESTION 1.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF JESUS’ DEATH AND RESURRECTION ?
The death and resurrection of Jesus are key to our salvation. Rom 3:23 says that all of us have sinned and come short of God’s glory. It also says that the penalty of for sin is death. His death on the cross paid for our sins and made us right with God. His resurrection shows that God is strong and victorious over sin and death. It also gives us hope and assurance that we will be raised from the dead and live forever.

QUESTION 2. WHAT DOES THE PHRASE “IN CHRIST ALONE” TEACH US ABOUT THE HOPE,PEACE AND SECURITY WE HAVE IN CHRIST ? (Heb 13:5-6; Rom 8:35-39).
We can find hope, peace and safety in Christ, as the hymn “In Christ Alone” tells us. Christ lives inside us and gives us strength. We can stand firm in His love and grace no matter what life throws at us.
We can find hope, peace and safety in Christ in the following ways:
I. Through Christ, we have hope and security even when life is hard God’s word reminds us that Christ lives inside us and gives us strength. We can stand firm in His love and kindness
II. Through Christ, we are safe and secure. Rom 8:35-39 tells us that we are safe in Christ and that nothing can separate us from His love.
III. We have peace and joy in Christ. In Christ, we have real peace and joy at all times (Jn 14:27)

QUESTION 3. HOW CAN WE FIND STRENGTH AND COMFORT IN THE MIDST OF LIFE’S CHALLENGES ?
In times of life challenges, we find strength and comfort in our relationship with the Lord. In such times we should turn to the Lord Jesus in prayers, seeking His guidance and wisdom. This involves expressing our needs, concerns, and fear to Jesus, asking Him to provide the help and strength we need.
Meditating on and memorizing verses from the Bible that reminds us of God’s love, grace and presence can also provide strength and comfort. Examples include Psalms 23:4; Isa 41:10 and Jn 14:27.
Seeking support from trusted Christian friends and mentors can provide encouragement, prayer and counsel during such challenging times. Proverbs 17:17 emphasizes the importance of having a supportive and loving friend.
Participating in activities that nuture our relationship with the Lord, such as worship, fellowship and serving others through Acts of kindness and compassion can also provide strength and comfort.

QUESTION 4. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO TRUST IN GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY AND PLAN FOR OUR LIVES ? Trusting in God’s sovereignty and plan for our lives is important because it helps us to remember that God is in control and that He has a purpose and plan for our lives even in difficult times (Jer 29:11).
Believing that God is in charge and has a plan for our lives is an act of faith and obedience. It brings us closer to God and helps us feel His love and grace more fully.
Trusting that God is in charge and has a plan for our lives can give us peace and hope in the following ways:
I. Putting our faith in God helps us keep our attention on Him instead of our worries and fears. We can let go of our problems and fears when we trust God. He loves and cares for us (Phil 4:6-7). God’s peace is beyond our knowledge . We can feel it when we trust Him and talk to Him about our worries in prayers.
II. We can feel God’s love and grace more deeply and find hope and power in Him when we put our trust in Him and do what He says (Prov 3:5-8)
III. When we have faith in God, He gives us the strength and courage to overcome our problems (Phil 4:13)

DAILY LIVING APPLICATION:
This study suggests that we should focus on Jesus and His love, grace and presence in our daily lives. This can be achieved by setting aside specific times for prayers and Bible study, meditating on verses that remind us of His love and faithfulness, and seeking support from trusted Christian friends and Christian mentors.
Engaging in activities that nuture our relationship with Jesus such as worship, fellowship and serving others, can help us draw closer to Him and find hope and strength.
