YOU HAVE GOD’S GENTLE NATURE

GALATIANS 5:22-23, 1THESSALONIANS 2:7 (TPT)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. *Even though we could have imposed upon you our demands as apostles of Christ, instead we showed you kindness and were gentle among you. We cared for you in the same way a nursing mother cares for her children.

Have you ever thought about how gentle the Holy Spirit is? By His presence in you, you can be just as gentle. Gentleness is one of the attributes that flows from the wisdom that is from above, (James 3:17). Gentleness is a major manifestation of God’s wisdom. It is the nature of God in you that causes you to behave moderately, kindly and rightly at all times; especially in the way you handle and relate with people. Gentleness renders you careful and able to avoid being unnecessarily harsh, irrational or extreme in the way you comport yourself and in your dealings with others.

Gentleness renders you merciful, kind and gracious towards others, no matter their behaviour towards you. It is what makes you harmless as a dove as Jesus instructed, (Matt. 10:16). Being gentle makes you attractive and easily accessible. It makes people enjoy relating with you. The gentleness of Jesus drew little children to Him, (Luke 18:15-16). It also drew many others, particularly those who were considered sinners. Paul describes gentleness with the analogy of a caring nurse. This shows that gentleness can have a healing and restorative effect on the lives of others. To treat people as gently as God desires, we must view them the way God does as people in need of His grace and mercy. We must display honour and dignity as we interact with them.

PRAYER:
DEAR FATHER, I THANK YOU FOR THE ABILITY YOU HAVE GIVEN ME TO ALWAYS BE MERCIFUL, KIND, AND GRACIOUS TOWARDS PEOPLE
