SEEK THE THINGS THAT MATTER TO CHRIST (2)

Acts 26:14-16 (NIV) “We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ “Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ “‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.”

Though Saul was persecuting the church, Jesus said to him, “Why are you persecuting me?” Jesus is very concerned about how we treat His church; for what we do to the church, we are doing to Him, (Matt. 25:40).

The things that matter to Christ are preaching the message of His Cross and the growth/welfare of His church. These must be the things that matter to us also. As believers in Christ, we must be more concerned about the rewards we will get in Heaven than about our status, pleasures, and comforts on this earth.

We are ministers of reconciliation and ambassadors of Christ to tell people that Christ paid for their sins and God is no more angry with them, (2 Cor. 5:18-20). It is not God’s will that anyone perishes, but that all come to repentance. If people do not hear about what Christ did for them on the Cross, all He did will be in vain. Your preaching of the Gospel is as important as Jesus’ dying on the Cross. This is why Apostle Paul said it would be very terrible for him if he missed out on such a great opportunity, (1 Cor. 9:16). Jesus wants to build His church so the gates of hell won’t prevail against it, (Matt. 16:18). As a part of His body, you have a role to play for building the church in love, (Eph. 4:15-16).

Father, please use me to preach the message of the cross of Christ, and use me to bless and build the church
