JUST BEGINNING THE JOURNEY

“` MEMORY VERSE:“` “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 PETER 2:2).

The Christian journey to heaven begins when a sinner forsakes his sins and turns to Christ, accepting Him as his Lord and Saviour. With that, he becomes a child of God, with his name in God’s book of life.

As natural babies need milk for growth, a newborn baby in God’s kingdom needs the spiritual milk of the word of God to grow strong in the faith. This was why Cynthia Heald wrote, “Growing in any area of the Christian life takes time, and the key is daily sitting at the feet of Jesus.”

You must lay aside, “all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings” (1 Peter 2:1), in order to keep yourself pure and make progress in your new Christian experience.

Moreover, God will graciously give you sufficient grace to overcome the antics of the devil, who works through temptations aimed at discouraging you, to make you backslide.

The Apostles of Jesus did not backslide because they gave themselves “continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word”. In your pilgrim journey, read the word, pray and preach.
