Key Verse

“Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering” (Exodus 25:2).
Text —Exodus 25:1-9

Message

Have you read the story of the young boy whose lunch of five loaves and two fishes fed the multitudes at Jesus’ meeting? However, not many realize the sacrifice and faith behind the act. He never knew beforehand that his small meal would feed the five thousand hungry people gathered at the meeting. Nor could he have imagined the possibility of twelve baskets of leftover food. But that was the miracle that attended his sacrificial surrender of his substance.

In our text, God asked for offering for the building of His sanctuary for His dwelling among His people. However, we are now the temple of God. So the first demand Christ makes of anyone is the surrendering of his/her heart to Him. He indwells the heart. Only true Disciples of Christ can understand the place of willing offerings. They are called to sacrifice all – heart, money, material and talents, for the salvation of souls. The widow gave her two mites, the young boy gave his lunch, and what are you willing to give to the Lord?

Quote

Called to sacrifice all.

Challenge

Only what is done for Christ will last.

Prayer for today

Take myself and I will be ever, only, all for Thee
