Priceless Lessons From The Life Of Judas (Part 2)

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” Psalms 139:1

Judas was one of Jesus’ disciples and should have gone down in history as a founding father of Christianity, but he made several key decisions that led him to a path of destruction. We can still learn from those mistakes today. First, Judas refused to change. Secondly, he would not give Jesus everything. The third mistake he made was he knew about Jesus, but he didn’t know Him personally. At the Last Supper, Jesus looked at the disciples and said, “One of you will betray me.” And they all began to ask, “Lord, is it I?” Each one of them asked the same question except Judas. Notice that Judas asked, “Master, is it I?” All the rest of the disciples called Jesus “Lord,” but Judas called Him “Master.” In the Bible, the term “Master” describes a rabbi or a teacher, but not the Savior. Judas never knew Jesus as the Lord of his life. He never knew Him as his personal Savior because he did not revere Him as “Lord.”

It is possible to attend church week after week and know about Jesus but never know Him for yourself. You may have been raised in church, and Christianity is a tradition in your family, but you know that something is missing. There are no tears of repentance, no life change, and you have no desire to worship Him. If you truly knew Him, your heart would be bursting with gratitude for what He has done for you. Learn from Judas. Don’t be content to know about Jesus. Start a personal relationship with Him today. If you have never decided on your own to give your life to Christ, pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to You. I don’t want to be like Judas. I want to be changed and have a heart that loves You. I want to know You for myself, not just know about You. So today, I receive the gift of salvation and Your forgiveness. The blood of Jesus cleanses me now from all unrighteousness. From this day forward, I am Yours, and You are mine. I am saved in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen
