You Were Born To Win

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet…” Ephesians 1:18-22

In Genesis 49, Jacob speaks his last words to his sons. He called them in and prophesied over each one. He spoke to each child’s identity and future, and when he got to his son Gad, he said something really powerful that is often overlooked. He said of him, “Gad, a troop shall tramp upon him, but he shall triumph in the end.” He was saying to him, “Son, there will come a season where you will get trampled and look like a loser, but you were born to win.”

There will be times when you will face struggles and setbacks, but were not born to be defeated. Financial issues, addiction, or depression are not your destiny because you were not born for failure. The spirit of Jesus that lives in you is the spirit of a champion who overcame death itself! The same power that conquered the grave lives in you. No matter what knocks you down, you will get back up in the end. Sometimes, you may feel like quitting, but you won’t because you were born to be an overcomer.

Maybe you had a father or mother who never spoke good words over you. Maybe all you heard was, “You are a nobody. You aren’t going to be anything.” But in John 1:12, God says these powerful words, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become sons and daughters of God…” It doesn’t matter who your earthly father was, if you have given your life to Jesus, you are a child of God.

John 4:4 says, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” God has a victorious plan for you despite how you may feel about your past or maybe even your present. You may feel like you are being “trampled,” but like Gad, you will rise to higher things
