Proverbs 30:8

FEBRUARY 03, 2024

Today’s Scripture

…Give me neither poverty nor riches—feed me with the food allotted to me.

Proverbs 30:8

Jesus instructed us to pray that God will give us our daily bread – not weekly, monthly, or only for Easter or Christmas.

Daily bread sustains us through today to give us what we need, when we need it, no more and no less, right on time. What if God had shared our whole lives with us in advance? If He had explained it all ahead of time, many of us would have politely declined. Being a wise and sovereign God, He simply asked us to believe Him for today, to trust Him with our needs for now.

And day after day, He proved that we could count on Him to lead us safely. How did we navigate the low valley of the shadow of death? With daily bread. How did He take us over mountains too high to climb? With daily bread. How did He lead us through battles we had no courage to fight? With daily bread.

This daily bread satisfies the hunger of our souls. It quenches the thirsting of our hearts. It heals the broken places in our lives. It brings strength to the weary and weak. It fills the frightened with courage and confidence. We can count on Him to feed us exactly what we need for today.

Blessing

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Open up His Word to collect the manna that He sends you today. May His Word be a lamp to guide you and a light to keep you from stumbling on the path.
