TOPIC: Cry Out (Open Heaven for Teens, 24 March 2025)
MEMORISE: This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. Psalm 34:6
BIBLE READING: 2 Kings 6:1-7 (KJV)
1 And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
6 And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
7 Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
MESSAGE:
In today’s Bible reading, Elisha would not have known about the axe head that fell into the water if the man who lost it had not cried out for help. Many times, we need to cry to God until He answers us. There are people who say that they don’t need to open their mouths while praying to God before He answers because He knows all their needs. While it is true that God knows everything and can answer even before you ask, if you go through the Bible, you will see many instances where people cried out to God.
In Psalm 120:1, David said: “In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and He heard me.”* Also, in Psalm 77:1, the Psalmist said, “cried unto God with my voice…”; he didn’t say, “with my heart”.
There is, however, one thing that can prevent God from hearing you, and that is sin. The Bible says that if we regard iniquity in our hearts, God will not hear us (Psalm 66:18). However, if a sinner repents and cries to God for mercy, He will hear. I pray for you that whenever you cry unto God, He will hear you, in Jesus’ name.
ACTION POINT:
For the next 10 minutes, cry out to God in prayer for your needs.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Deuteronomy 2:1-3:29, Luke 6:12-38
HYMN 12: Onward Christian Soldiers
1 Onward, Christian
soldiers, marching as to War,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle, see his banner go!
Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
2 At the name of Jesus Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise!
3 Like a mighty army moves the church of God:
Brothers, we are treading
where the saints have trod;
We are not divided; all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
4 Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the church Jesus constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never ‘gainst that church prevail
We have Christ’s own promise and that cannot fail
5 0nward, then, ye people,
join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices,
in the triumph song;
Glory, praise and honour,
unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages,
men and angels sing.
