TOPIC: From Darkness To Light (Open Heaven for Teens, 25 February 2025)
MEMORISE: As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:5
BIBLE READING: 1 John 1:5-10
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
MESSAGE:
There are certain things in life that are very difficult to define. One of such things is light. If someone asks you, “What is light?” you may simply say it is the opposite of darkness. That is true; however, to truly understand light, you need to understand what darkness stands for.
Darkness and the devil go hand in hand. In Luke 13:11-17, Jesus Christ referred to the spirit of infirmity as an agent of the devil. This means that sicknesses and diseases have their origin in darkness. However, the light of God can see the forces of darkness and deal with them completely.
Darkness signifies sickness, but light signifies healing, which is embedded in Jesus Christ, the light of the world. When you have a relationship with Jesus, sicknesses cannot continue to stay in your life. I decree that if there is any sickness or disease in your life, my Daddy will chase it out today, in the mighty name of Jesus.
PRAYER POINT
Father, please let Your light shine into my life and let darkness disappear, in Jesus’ name.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Leviticus 16:30, Mark 7:10
HYMN 30: When We Walk With The Lord
1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
