TOPIC: Stand By Your Words II [Open Heaven for Teens 3 May 2021]

MEMORISE: But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Matthew 5:37

READ: Matthew 12:36-37

  1. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
  2. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 6-7, Luke 23:27-56

MESSAGE:

One of the good characters fast going down the drain even amongst Christians is integrity. In the past, when companies wanted to employ, they would go to the church to look for people. In fact, the Pastor of a church could write a recommendation letter to a company on behalf of a member and the letter would be honoured, but these days, things have changed. Why? People no longer have integrity. Integrity means to stand by your words. It is saying the truth even in the face of danger, loss of friendship or anything. It is being true to one’s words. Are you true to your words? Can your friends vouch for you?

There are a lot of dangers in not having integrity. One of it is the danger of hell. If you lack integrity, it means you are a liar and all liars shall go to hell (Revelation 21:8). You will also lose the trust of people; nobody will believe what ever you say and this might eventually lead to loss of good opportunities later in life. If you lack integrity, ask the Holy Spirit for help today. If you have to swear before people believe you, you lack integrity.

ACTION POINT:

Think of any vow you have failed to fulfil and fulfil it immediately.

HYMN: Christian Seek Not Yet Repose

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose,
    Hear thy guardian angel say,
    “Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray!
  2. Principalities and powers,
    Mustering their unseen array,
    Wait for thine unguarded hours:
    “Watch and pray!
  3. Gird thy heavenly armour on,
    Wear it every night and day,
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    “Watch and pray!
  4. Hear the victors who overcame;
    Still they mark each warrior’s way,
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    “Watch and pray!
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou lovest to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word,
    “Watch and pray!
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    “Watch and pray!”
