TOPIC: Guard Your Ears [Open Heaven for Teens 31 March 2021]

MEMORISE: The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. – Proverbs 18:15

READ: 1 Corinthians 15:33

33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 3-5; Luke 7:31-50

MESSAGE:

Words are very powerful. They can motivate people to aspire for greatness, give hope to the hopeless and inspire a fellow who has lost the zeal to think big. On the other hand, words can mislead a fellow into doing the wrong things or discourage people from reaching great heights. For instance, a carefree teenager who doesn’t have a firm resolve about good morals will end up being swayed by every wave of doctrine and influenced by the words of the people around him or her. Listening to the wrong things is very dangerous because Proverbs 18:21a says:

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue:”

This means whatever you hear will either kill or make you live. Hence, be mindful of the preachers and music you listen to. Whether you agree or not, they will affect your life positively or negatively. If a child of God keeps listening to songs about the sexual nature of the opposite sex, its only a matter of time before he or she will fall into the sin of premarital sex. Be careful.

ACTION POINT:

Lord, please purify me. Help me to hear right.

HYMN 13: I’ve Found A Friend In Jesus

  1. I’ve found a friend in Jesus,
    He’s everything to me,
    He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
    The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
    All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
    In sorrow He’s my comfort,
    In trouble He’s my stay;
    He tells me every care on
    Him to roll.

Refrain:
He’s the Lily of the Valley, the
Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

  1. He all my griefs has taken,
    and all my sorrows borne;
    In temptation He’s my strong and mighty tow’r;
    I’ve all for Him forsaken,
    and all my idols torn
    From my heart and now
    He keeps me by His pow’r.
    Though all the world forsake me,
    and Satan tempt me sore,
    Through Jesus I shall safely
    reach the goal.
  2. He’ll never, never leave me,
    nor yet forsake me here,
    While I live by faith
    and do His blessed will;
    A wall of fire about me,
    I’ve nothing now to fear,
    From His manna He my
    hungry soul shall fill.
    Then sweeping up to glory
    To see His blessed face,
    Where rivers of delight shall ever roll.
