MEMORISE: He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the cloud shall not reap. Ecclesiastes 11:4
BIBLE TEXT: Luke 9:59-62
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
MESSAGE:
Procrastination is a sibling to laziness; it means delaying in carrying out an action or particular task. It is not good at all; as matter of fact, both laziness and procrastination have equal weight in punishment.
You should not procrastinate studying or reading your books. Some students wait till a few days to their exams before they start studying. This often results in illness, difficulty in recalling what was read during the exam, and sometimes, a mix-up in answering questions. These and other consequences could have beer avoided if they had made a habit of studying daily.
Some children of God don’t procrastinate in their studies or chores but do in their service to God particularly in sharing the gospel. This is risky because you never can tell what will happen to the unsaved soul around you in the next minute. The story of the young man that our Lord Jesus Christ called to follow Him in today’s passage shows that procrastination is not allowed in the Kingdom of God. So, whether it’s a chore, an errand, or a service, don’t delay in doing it.
KEY POINT:
Be up and doing; use your time wisely.

HYMN 15 – Onward, Christian Soldiers
- Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before;
Christ, the Royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See His banners go.
CHORUS
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.
- At the name of Jesus
Satan’s host doth Ilee;
On then, Christian soldiers
On to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise:
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise. - Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God:
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
All one body we
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity. - Crowns and thrones may perish
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never
‘Gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise-
And that cannot fail. - Onward then, ye people,
Join our happy throng;
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song:
“Glory, praise and honour,
Unto Christ the King”,
This, through countless ages,
Men and angels sing.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Corinthians 5-9
