TOPIC: Praying Without Believing? (Open Heaven for Teens 5 January 2025)

MEMORISE: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

READ: Luke 7:2-10

  1. And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
  2. And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
  3. And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
  4. For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
  5. Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
  6. Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
  7. For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
  8. When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
  9. And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, the centurion’s faith received an outstanding accolade from Jesus. He sent people to ask Jesus to come and heal his servant, but while Jesus was still on His way his faith reached new heights, and he sent his friends to Jesus to tell Him, “Just speak the word, and my servant will be healed.”

My dear child, I want you to be like this patriarch of faith who put his faith in the words of Christ and got healing for his servant. When you pray, hold on to God and His words, and you will get answers to your requests.

I remember I once prayed to God for something and didn’t get an answer until 13 years later. I can confidently tell you that God answers prayers, but He needs to see your faith in Him. No one has seen God physically, but you can see Him through the eyes of your faith. Beloved, always pray in faith.
