EXCELLING IN GOOD BEHAVIOUR

TEXT: DANIEL 6:1-4

MEMORY VERSE: “Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him” (DANIEL 6:4).

Behaviour, according to the Merriam Webster’s Dictionary, is the manner of conducting oneself. Daniel, who is the primal character in our text, was far away from home in a strange land whose culture and predominant practices were in clear contrast to those of his godly heritage. But he purposed in his heart never to flow with the tide. His behaviour was borne out of faith, and at the end, God honoured him.

In our society today, many youths are ill-mannered. They display all sorts of bad behaviour such as disrespect for parents and elders, use of worldly language, truancy, examination malpractice, and sinful or ungodly relationship, to mention but a few. Some even go as far as fighting their parents and teachers thereby incurring curses on themselves.

Behaviour is a reflection of the state of the heart, “for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). Beloved, let your heart be cleansed today. Salvation through Christ’s atoning blood is the solution to your bad behaviour. You can be another Daniel, Joseph or the virgin daughters of Deacon Philip.

QUOTE: You can be another Daniel.

CHALLENGE: Be positively different!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me the grace to show good behaviour
