SUMMARY OF LESSONS 7-11
LESSON SEVEN (07)
TOPIC: WHO DESERVES GRATITUDE 5: GOVERNMENT

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Timothy 2:1-6, Romans 13:1-7

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Timothy 2:2 “For kings, and for that all authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

LESSON AIM: The children will rely on God to obey all authorities.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to be obedient at all times.

INTRODUCTION
Children! Today, we are going to talk about the government of the land. What is government and the essence of having a government? There are good and bad governments. God said in Jeremiah 27:6 that Nebuchadnezzar is His servant even though his army destroyed Jerusalem, the temple and killed many Jewish people, and carried the survivors into captivity to Babylon. God said He gave all the lands Nebuchadnezzar conquered into his hands. So Paul said in one ofhis letters to the Romans that;

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Everyone is to be subjected to the governing authorities because God ordained all human governments.
  2. Paul implicated that ifyou resist government authority, which God has established, you are opposing God and you will come under judgment
  3. Paul explained that the purpose of a civil government is to protect law-abiding citizens and punish lawbreakers.
  4. God established government to act as a minister of God in avenging wrong.
  5. Paul further explained to be in subjection to the government of the land, there should be fear of punishment and conscience before God who ordained the government.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: Paul explained submission to the Lord Jesus so before you get right with the government, you must get right with God by repenting of your sins which Jesus came into the world to take away. Jesus took the punishment for our sins by dying on the cross, he was buried and rose again on the third day/ when you put your faith in Him, He can have your sins forgiven. Your relationship with Jesus Christ will provide the way for you to properly submit to the government.

CLIMAX: Paul applied it by showing why we should pay taxes because government officials are servants of God.

CONCLUSION: So the government deserves our taxes as well as our respect.

CHALLENGE: As a child who knows Jesus as Lord and Saviour, you should obey those in authority but if the authority wants you to do something against God, you should refuse. In Daniel 3, the three Hebrew boys refused to bow before King Nebuchadnazzer’s idol because it was a sin against God. You too should always say no to anything that is against God.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: You should obey authority by doing what is right.

INVITATION: Believe in the Lord Jesus and be saved (John 5:24).

LESSON EIGHT (08)
TOPIC: QUALITIES OF A GRATEFUL HEART 1: HOLY SPIRIT FILLED

BIBLE TEXT: Luke 1:58-75

MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 5:18 “And be not be drunk with wine wherein is excess but be filled with the Spirit.”

LESSON AIM: The children will learn to depend on God for them to have faith be filled with Holy Spirit.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

INTRODUCTION
Children of God! Today we are going to learn about people who lived on Earth very long ago. Zechariah and Elizabeth were married and did not have children and were both advanced in age. They loved and obeyed God, and Zechariah was a priest who served in the temple of the Lord. One day he was serving the Lord in the Temple when God sent Gabriel, one of His Angels to give Zechariah a message. He told him that he and his wife will have a son to be named John, and many will rejoice at his birth because he will be great before the Lord. Zechariah did not believe that the message could be true so the Angel said he would not be able to speak until the baby was bon. The Lord allowed Elizabeth to be pregnant even though she was old.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. The time came for Zechariah and Elizabeth’s baby to be born.
  2. When their baby boy was born, all their neighbors and family rejoiced at God’s kindness to them.
  3. When it was time for the baby to be named, everyone expected him to be named Zechariah.
  4. Everyone was shocked when Elizabeth said his name was John and they all made signs for Zechariah.
  5. Zechariah motioned for something to write and he wrote that the baby’s name was John.
  6. Immediately he wrote these words the Lord allowed him to be able to speak again and began to praise God.
  7. The people were shocked and amazed at what they saw and heard and wondered what the child will be.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: God’s plan for the baby was to prepare people for the coming Messiah. God has plans for you and me too. God’s plan for our lives is to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. You cannot glorify God if you have not known Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Jesus came into this world as a baby. Jesus grew up and lived a sinless life on Earth. They put Jesus to death by crucifying Him on the cross because people did not believe He was the Messiah. He was buried and three days later, God raised Him from the dead. We glorify God when we put our faith in Jesus as the One and the only way for our sins to be forgiven before God

CLIMAX: Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to prophesy to the people.

CONCLUSION: Zechariah spoke of the promised Messiah who would come and rescue the Israelites from their enemies.

CHALLENGE: As a child who has put his/her faith in Jesus, you too can be filled with the Holy Spirit. You need to be a follower of Jesus and believe all that He says in the bible. For you to be a follower of Jesus, you need to G.R.O.W:
G: Go to church and attend Sunday school and also bible club.
R: Read your Bible and pray every day.
O: Obey the word of God and the people who have authority over you.
W: Witness or tell others what Jesus has done for you and what He still doing in your life.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: This week, tell others about the good news of Jesus and do everything that pleases God.

INVITATION: You cannot be holy spirit filled if you have not believed in Jesus as Lord and Saviour (John 3: 16).

LESSON NINE (09)
TOPIC: QUALITIES OF A GRATEFUL HEART 2: HUMILITY

BIBLE TEXT: DANIEL 4:1-37

MEMORY VERSE: Luke 14:11 For whoever exaltheth himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”

LESSON AIM: The children will learn to be humble and .thank God for everything.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to be humble.

INTRODUCTION: Greetings and God bless you! I’m King Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, and I can tell you that God has certainly shown me His power in some very awesome ways. First, I saw God save Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when I threw them into the furnace for not worshiping my gold statue. Then, a little while after that, I was sleeping and had a dream.
In the dream, God sent an angel to me to tell me that my mind would become like the mind of an animal for seven years and that I would live out with the animals. I didn’t know what the dream meant, so when I woke up, I called for all my magicians and wise men to come to help me figure it out. But none of the magicians could tell me what the dream meant.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that troubled him and he called his wise men and told them the dream but they could not interpret it so he turned to Daniel
  2. King Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged that the spirit of the living God is upon Daniel and that nothing can confuse him or be too difficult for him.
  3. Nebuchadnezzar told Daniel that he saw a very big tree that touched the sky and could be seen by everyone and it was fruitful where animals and birds came for shelter.
  4. Daniel told King Nebuchadnezzar that the dream was about how God will take the kingdom away and humble him for seven years by living like an animal in the bush.
  5. Daniel urged King Nebuchadnezzar to repent and do what was right.
  6. After one year, King Nebuchadnezzar boasted of his greatness and a voice from heaven spoke to him that the kingdom had departed from him and he would behave like the beasts in the wilderness.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: A lot of times, people turn to other people or things for help because if they turn to God they will have to give up sin. God our creator hates sin because sin separates us from His love.

CLIMAX: After seven years of living like an animal. Nebuchadnezzar humbled himself before God.

CONCLUSION: God kept His word and restored
Nebuchadnezzar his kingdom as he had acknowledged that God is the ruler of all.

CHALLENGE: For you have put your faith in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, you should always remember to thank Him for any gift or talent and guard your heart against pride. Pride is a sin because it is a false idea that what we believe about ourselves places us above God. For example, if you are astraight-A student and you start boasting that it is because you studied all the time and you earned it, you are a good student. It is true that you must study and do your part well but ultimately any wisdom and intelligence is from God our Creator. Pride steals glory that belongs to God alone.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: Give God the credit/praise for all things and turn away from pride.

INVITATION: To be able to be humble and give God credit for everything, call on the name of the Lord and be saved. (Romans 10:13).

LESSON TEN (10)
TOPIC: QUALITIES OF A GRATEFUL HEART 3: A WITNESS OF THE GOSPEL.

BIBLE TEXT: Acts 3:1-10

MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

LESSON AIM: The children will learn the importance of obeying God’s Word and tell others about the good news of Jesus’s salvation.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to tell others about Jesus.

INTRODUCTION: How many of you have seen dolphins in real life? Have you ever been to a zoo or an aquarium and seen what a dolphin can do? Dolphins we are told are the smartest creatures in the sea. Dolphins can do some amazing things. Dolphins, better than almost all animals , can communicate. Dolphins are social creatures, and they love to talk; we too also love to talk. When Jesus was about to leave the earth, He gave a command to His followers to take the good news about His resurrection to the world. Jesus is counting on you to share that good news just like His followers did.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Philip obeyed Jesus’s instructions and left Jerusalem for Samaria to preach the good news.
  2. Crowds of people saw God’s power working through Philip and believed in Jesus.
  3. While in Samaria the angel of the Lord instructed Philip to go south to the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.
  4. As he traveled down the desert road he heard the rumbling of horses carrying a chariot coming in his direction and sitting in it was a man from Ethiopia.
  5. A eunuch who was an important official, a treasure for Candace Queen of Ethiopia, and was on his way back from Jerusalem where he went to worship God.
  6. As Philip ran alongside the Chariot, he heard the Ethiopian eunuch reading Isaiah out loud, and Philip asked him if he understood, he said how can he when no one to explain to him.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: When you can understand God’s word it is because you have not yet believed in the Lord as Saviour. God loves us and gives us an understanding of His Word but when you sin, He is separated from you and cannot hear you. When you believe that Jesus came to earth and died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day so that you can have your sins forgiven. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

CLIMAX: The Eunuch invited Philip to sit on the Chariot and he accepted; he asked Philip who Prophet Isaiah was talking about. Philip used the passage to explain about Jesus and the Eunuch believed.

CONCLUSION: They saw water along the way and the Eunuch asked to be baptized and Philip did.

CHALLENGE: Philip’s example teaches us that as children of God, we should obey the commandment of the Lord and tell others about Jesus. We do not know how God is working in the lives of those around us.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: This week, let us pray that each day you would listen carefully to God’s instructions and be quick to tell others about Jesus so that your light can shine (Matthew 5:16).

INVITATION: For you to be a testifier of God’s good news, you need to believe in the Lord Jesus as Saviour. (John 5:16).

LESSON ELEVEN (11)
TOPIC: QUALITIES OF A GRATEFUL HEART 4: A TESTIFIER OF GOD’S WONDERFUL WORKS

BIBLE TEXT: Mark 5:1-25

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 145:4 “One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.”

LESSON AIM: The children will believe that God sent Jesus to save them and to tell others about Him.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to tell others about Jesus.

INTRODUCTION
Children of God! Do you know in the Roman military a legion is made of 6000 soldiers? During the me our Lord Jesus was on earth physically, there was an unclean man who lived in an unclean place surrounded by unclean animals. His reputation was so bad that even the people in the nearby town did not want anything to do with him because this man was possessed by demons who had ruined his life which made him live in the cemetery near where they rear pigs. The demon living in this man was called a legion which means there were 6000 of them living inside him.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Jesus and His disciples got off the boat at Gadarene and realized that they were in a cemetery.
  2. Things got very scary when a started running out of the cemetery with broken chains hanging from his wrists and ankles.
  3. He did not have clothes on and had scratches and blood all over him.
  4. The disciples were frightened but the man did not come near them but went straight to Jesus.
  5. The man started talking loudly in a very strange voice and the disciples wanted to run away but Jesus did not run away.
  6. Jesus knew that the reason the man was acting this way was that evil spirits were living inside of him.
  7. Jesus looked at the man and spoke to the evil spirits inside of him asking for the name.
  8. The evil spirits in the man answered in a strange voice that his name is legion because they are many.
  9. Jesus commanded the evil spirit to leave the man immediately and they begged to be sent to the two thousand pigs close by.
  10. All the pigs began to act strange that they jumped off of a cliff into the sea and died.
  11. The owners of the pigs were amazed and ran into the town to tell everyone what happened.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: But Jesus is stronger than satan and knew his dirty tricks. Jesus loved the man that was possessed by an evil spirit and wanted to set him free. Jesus loves you too and wants to set you free from your sins. Jesus came down to earth to take the punishment for your sins. Jesus died a terrible death on the cross, was buried and on the third day, He came alive again (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Because of what Jesus went through, you can now have your sins forgiven if you ask Him to be your Saviour.

CLIMAX: The man became normal and wanted to follow Jesus but Jesus told him to go back to his family and tell them the wonderful things God had done for him. The man went to a place called Decapolis and told all that Jesus did for him.

CONCLUSION: With this man’s testimony, more people sought Jesus for healing which included the woman with the issue of blood and Jarius.

CHALLENGE: When Jesus encountered the demon-possessed man, He had compassion and healed him. No matter what struggle you face, when you come to Jesus, there is nothing He cannot do. When He does, He will want you to tell others about it so that they too will believe.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: You need to go out this week and tell others about the goodness of Jesus in your life.

INVITATION: You need to call upon Jesus as Lord to be saved. (Romans 10:13) .
