*TOPIC: THE WORKS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT 3
(HE TEACHES US)*
BIBLE TEXT: John 14:16-17,26.
[16]And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
[17]Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[26]But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
MEMORY VERSE: John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
LESSON AIM: The children will know that the Holy Spirit teaches them the word of God.
CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: Jesus will teach you about God through the Holy Spirit.
INTRODUCTION: Children! Do you know that the bible is known as the word of God? Do you believe the bible? (why). Has anyone ever told you that they do not believe the bible is the word of God? Some people believe that the bible is a long boring book and they are not interested in reading it. The bible is not just another book but was given to man by God through the Holy Spirit to teach and reveal the Saviour to us.
PROGRESSION OF EVENT: The Holy Spirit teaches us in the bible that;
- All scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Timothy 3:16a)
- It is good for teaching, rebuking, correcting, training. and equipping (2Timothy 3:16b)
- The scripture comes from the will of God who inspired men to write the Bible through the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21)
- All God’s words are true and the laws of God do not change (Psalm 119:160)
- The Word of God is flawless (No mistake) and pure (No stain) (Psalm 12:6)
- Jesus is the Word of God and the Word became flesh and dwelt with us
- It is difficult for people to understand the Word of God if they do not have Him (The Holy Spirit) to teach them (1 Corinthians 2:14)
GOSPEL CONNECTION: For you to have the Holy Spirit, you need to have Jesus first. Who is Jesus? He is the only begotten Son of God whom God sent down to earth to take the
punishment for our sins. Jesus shed His lifeblood on the cross for your sins and mine to be forgiven. Because of God’s love for you and me, Jesus did the utmost sacrifice with His blood, and before He went to the cross, He promised to send a helper which is the Holy Spirit to teach all truths.
CLIMAX: The Holy Spirit is the one God sent in the name of Jesus (John 14:26a)
CONCLUSION: The Holy Spirit is the teacher of all things and brings everything into remembrance. (John 14:26b)
CHALLENGE: As you put your trust in Jesus, the Holy Spirit teaches you all about yourself and who you are without Him, and who you are with Him from within. He removes all of your
guilt and shame from your sins from your past completely from within. He gives grace to those who purposely do not sin, and He knows your heart.
INVITATION: You need to call on Jesus as Lord and Saviour for the Holy Spirit to teach you all things.
