TOPIC: WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT 2: HE GUIDES US

BIBLE TEXT: John 16:13
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

MEMORY VERSE: John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

INTRODUCTION: The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth whom Jesus Christ has sent to reveal the truth unto us in all situations. He will reveal the mind of God to us in any given situation in order to guide us (1 Corinthians 2:10-11). A guide is someone who shows others the way. Without the presence of The Holy Spirit in the life of a child, that child will go into wrong direction.

A. THE HOLY SPIRIT GUIDES

  1. The guides us into all truth John. 16:13
  2. He guides us away from sin. Galatians 5:16
  3. He guides us to the purpose of God for us. Luke 4:18
  4. He guides us to the will of God. Psalm 143:10
  5. The Holy Spirit Allows Believers to Understand the Things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:12.
  6. The Holy Spirit Leads People Where to Go. Acts 8:27-29.
  7. The Holy Spirit Sets People Apart for Ministry. Acts 13:2-4.
  8. The Holy Spirit Sometimes Stops the Plans of Believers. Acts 16:6.
  9. The Holy Spirit May Guide into Difficult Circumstances. Acts 20:22.

B. HOW TO IDENTIFY THE GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

  1. Be baptized in The Holy Spirit.
  2. Be sensitive to His leading.
  3. Be obedient to His voice
  4. Walk in Spirit
  5. Pray in the Spirit.

C. BIBLICAL CHARACTERS THAT RECEIVE THE GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

  1. Apostle Paul(Acts 9:6)
  2. Philip (Acts 8:39)
  3. Apostle Peter(Acts 10:19)

LIFE APPLICATION: For the lines to fall in pleasant places for us as believers we need the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

CONCLUSION: As many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons.of God. The guidance of the Holy Spirit puts us at a vantage position to turn away from sin and to turn unto righteousness.
