LESSON THIRTY THREE (33)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART 5: SWIFT ANSWERS TO PRAYER

BIBLE TEXT: Mark 9:14-29
[14]And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
[15]And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
[16]And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
[17]And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
[18]And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
[19]He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
[20]And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
[21]And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
[22]And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
[23]Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
[24]And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
[25]When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
[26]And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
[27]But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
[28]And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
[29]And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 65:24 “It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer and while they are still speaking I will hear”.

LESSON AIM: God can give you swift answer to your prayer.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Your grateful heart can earn you a swift answer to your prayers.

INTRODUCTION: God by Himself promised that He will answer all our prayers all you need is to remain His child, by thankful to Him and He will give answers to your requests. It could be No, Wait or Yes, but be sure He knows the best for you always. Mathew 7:7

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. And when Jesus came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them and Scribes disputing with them. Verse 14
B. Immediately they saw Him, the people came running to Him and He asked the Scribes” What are you discussing with them? Vs 15
C. Then of the crowd answered and said “Teacher I brought you my Son who has a mute spirit and whenever it seizes him it throws him down and he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and come rigid so I spoke to your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not Vs 16-18” (Sickness is a bad situation as sin. Sin is whatever you think do or say that makes God unhappy. Sin separate you from God Romans 3:23 and the punishment of sin is death Roman 6:23. God loves and do not want you to be separate from Him, so He gave Jesus, His perfect Son to come to world to die for your sin so that you can be forgiven. John 3:16 Jesus gave His blood to take away your sin. He died, was buried and He rose the third day. Hebrew 9:22b)
D. Jesus answered Him and said “Faithless generation, how long shall I be with you and they brought him to Jesus and immediately the spirit convulsed him and cast him to the ground. Vs 20.
E. Jesus asked the Father how long has this happened to him and he said from childhood. And said “Nut if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us. vs 21-22.
F. Jesus said to him “if you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Vs 23.
G. Immediately the Father cried out and said with tears “Lord I believe help my unbelief”. Vs 24.
H. When Jesus saw the people came running together, He rebuke the unclean spirit saying to it “Deaf and dumb spirit I command you come out of him and enter him no more.” Vs 24.

CLIMAX: then the spirit cried out, convulse him greatly and came out of him. And he became as one dead. Vs 25-26. (There is a swift answer to the request of the father because he believed Jesus can healed his son and he even ask Jesus to help his unbelief, this is a point of submission from heart that has gratitude to God that He can do all things).

CONCLUSION: Jesus took him by his hand and lift him up and he arose vs 27. The disciple asked Jesus “why could we not cast it out? He said, this can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” Vs28-29.

CHALLENGE: when you show God gratitude you get swift answer that can cancel normal procedure. (In case of this story no prayer or fasting but the father’s prayer was answered. You too can get the same answer to your requests.)
