RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2023/2024
AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 11TH OF AUGUST, 2024
LESSON FIFTY (50)
TOPIC: ETERNITY IN HEAVEN.

BIBLE TEXT: Luke 23:39-43.
[39]And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
[40]But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
[41]And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
[42]And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
[43]And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

MEMORY VERSE: Philippians 3:20 “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,”

LESSON AIM: The children will believe that Jesus humbly came to the earth to die so that they can live in eternity with Him in paradise.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: Jesus wants you to live with Him in paradise.

INTRODUCTION: Children! Have you ever been bullied before? (Given room for answers). A Long Time ago in Jerusalem, one Man was convicted of a crime even though He did no wrong. He was brought out to die a criminal’s death, death on the cross. Even while His killers were preparing for His death, He still asked God to forgive them because they did not know what they were doing. People mocked, made fun of Him, and took His clothes. He endured all these even though He could have saved Himself. He endured all these so that one day you and I can have eternal life. This Man was Jesus who died a shameful death on the cross to save mankind.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Two criminals were crucified with Jesus on the cross
  2. One was on the right side and the other on the left side
  3. One of the criminals on the cross insulted and mocked Jesus
  4. But the other one criticized him for insulting Jesus byl saying don’t you fear God?
  5. We deserved the punishment we were given because we are criminals but this Man did nothing wrong.
  6. The criminal who defended Jesus turned to Him and a said today remember me when You come to Your kingdom.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: No one could understand the kind of suffering Jesus was feeling at this moment, though He a had never once sinned, but felt that He had done every wrong thing everyone has done since the world began. We have done many wrong things but because of the love that God had for us, Jesus decided to take the punishment for our sins (John 3:16).

CLIMAX: Jesus answered him and said, I will tell you thea truth; today you will be with me in paradise.

CONCLUSION: Jesus’ promise to this criminal on the cross is the same promise He made to you and me that if we accept Him as Saviour, we will be with Him in Paradise.

CHALLENGE: As you have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour and choose to love, trust and obey Him. , He will give His perfect life to you for your life of imperfection.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: Jesus wants everyone to be with Him in paradise. Will you tell others this week abo Jesus’ love for them so that they can be saved?

INVITATION: The only way you can tell others about Jesus love is to believe in Him as your Lord and Saviour.
