SUMMARY OF LESSONS 27-31
LESSON TWENTY SEVEN (27)
TOPIC: GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT DELIGHTS IN A GRATEFUL HEART

BIBLE TEXT: Acts 16:16-19

MEMORY VERSE: James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither or shadow of turning.”

LESSON AIM: The children will believe that God will give them the Holy Spirit if they believe in Jesus.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to depend on the Holy Spirit.

INTRODUCTION: After the conversion of Paul, the Holy Spirit was directing his movement. He made it clear where and when Paul should go. When Paul was in a place called Troas, God gave him a vision where a man from Macedonia begged him to come and help the people. Paul and his missionary team (Silas, Timothy and Luke) immediately traveled to Macedonia and stayed several days in a place called Philippi. Whenever Paul entered a new city, he usually try to locate the synagogue to start sharing the good news about Jesus, but Philippi did not have one so he located where the Jews met by the river to worship.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Paul and his friends arrived in Macedonia and stayed many days in a town called Philippi.
  2. One day, Paul and his friends walked to the river to meet for prayer, and a slave girl started to follow them and began to shout that these men tell them to be saved are the servant of the most high God.
  3. The slave girl had evil spirit living inside her that enabled her to predict the future, she followed Paul and Silas around for many days.
  4. Her owners made a lot of money by using her because she was able to predict the future.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: The evil spirit in the slave girl made her a sinner. You and I are sinners and we offend God with our want to sin. So God made a way out for our sins to be forgiven by sending His only begotten Son to take the punishment we deserve. Jesus died on the cross for your sins, was buried and rose again on the third day. You can now have your sins forgiven and have eternal life.

CLIMAX: The Holy Spirit empowered paul to command the evil Spirit controlling the slave girl to leave in the name of Jesus and the evil spirit obeyed and left the girl.

CONCLUSION: Her owners made a lot of money from the slave girl so they were very unhappy.

LESSON TWENTY EIGHT (28)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART:
SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS 1 (GIFT OF THE SPIRIT).

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 12:6 “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophecy according to the proportion of faith”.

LESSON AIM: The children will know that it is only God that they can rely on for spiritual gifts.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God will give you spiritual gifts through Jesus.

INTRODUCTION: Children! Have you ever daydreamed about being C exceptionally talented at something, like singing, or playing soccer, but you know you just were not given the gift or proper training to get good at it? Today, we are going to talk about the gifts God gives you when you put your trust in Jesus as Saviour.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Word of knowledge: The holy spirit gives us the knowledge that we would not know ourselves.
  2. Word of wisdom: Sometimes the Holy Spirit gives us wisdom about what to do in a situation.
  3. Discernment of Spirit: The Holy Spirit helps us know whether something is from God, a person’s own mind, or a heart.
  4. Gift of healing: The Holy Spirit helps us in praying for the sick and gives us increased faith that God will heal.
  5. Miracles: Miracles are things that are impossible for us to do on our own.

6 Faith: Faith is the ability to trust God even though we do not see Jesus.

  1. Prophecy: This is a message from God given to encourage people.
  2. Tongues: The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to speak in a strange language we have not learned.
  3. Interpretation of Tongues: When someone is speaking in an unknown tongue when praying, it needs to be interpreted.

CLIMAX: All these are the work of the Holy Spirit dividing to everyone as He pleases.

CONCLUSION: You should earnestly desire these gifts.

LESSON TWENTY NINE (29)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART 2; SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS (GIFT OF THE SPIRIT)

BIBLE TEXT: Acts 2:1-21

MEMORY VERSE: Joel 2:28 “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.”

LESSON AIM: The children will learn that God’s promised Holy Spirit came and indwelt the believers on the promise.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

INTRODUCTION: Children! Who are helpers? (Give room for the children to respond). A helper can be our teachers, pastors, policemen, nurses, doctors, and even our family members. These are helpers that take care of our earthly needs but Jesus gave us a special helper to allow us to connect to God. This is called the Holy Spirit, which helps us in our Christian lives. How do we know if we are filled with this Spirit? Jesus gives us a special clue to look for!

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. The apostles were obeying Jesus’ instructions and were gathered in Jerusalem and it is been ten days since Jesus went back up to heaven.
  2. On this day the Jews that had traveled from many different countries were gathered in Jerusalem.
  3. The Jewish people were gathered to celebrate a feast called Pentecost which is a special time when God’s people brought gifts as offerings to God.
  4. The Apostles had an amazing experience because God kept His promise and sent the gift of the holy spirit.
  5. The noise caused the Jewish people visiting Jerusalem to gather and find out what was happening because each one of them understood what they were saying in their different languages.
  6. Many in the crowd wanted to know what was happening and others even thought that they were drunk.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: Being drunk is a sin and sin separates us from God who loves us with everlasting love. For us not to be separated from Him, God sent His Son Jesus to earth to take the punishment we deserve for our sins. Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and came alive again on the third day. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, you could call on the Lord and be saved (Romans 6:23).

CLIMAX: Peter who was filled with the Holy Spirit stood up with other Apostles and told the crowd that it was too early in the day to get drunk but they were filled with the Holy Spirit that God promised.

CONCLUSION: Having the Holy Spirit inside him, Peter remembered the words from the scriptures that Prophet Joel wrote.

LESSON THIRTY (30)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART UNSPEAKABLE JOY

BIBLE TEXT: Luke 2:8-20.

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Peter 1:8 “Whom having not seen ye love, in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory”. LESSON AIM: The children will believe in God for the joy of
salvation.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to have salvation.

INTRODUCTION: Children! Imagine being a shepherd a long time ago, you are in a field watching over your sheep at night. The stars are shining and it is very quiet and you are probably sleepy when suddenly an angel appears, also imagine the celebration when an entire choir of angels joined that angel, all praising God at once. Let us find out what it would be like.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. It was like any other night when some shepherds were watching their sheep.
  2. Then all of a sudden an angel appeared with bright lights shining all around and they were afraid.
  3. The angel told them not to be afraid because today, he brought good news for all the people.
  4. That night the Savior had already been born in Bethlehem and here is the proof so that you will be able to tell others, you will see the Savior of the world wrapped in strips of cloth in a manger.
  5. Suddenly, a large group of angels also appeared from heaven praising God and saying that glory should be given to God and peace to those He is pleased with on Earth.
  6. The angels then went back to heaven and the shepherds decided to go to Bethlehem to see the thing that happened which God had told them.
  7. The shepherd found Joseph, Mary, and the baby lying in a manger just like the angel had to them and they left and told everyone.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: The news that the angel shared with the shepherds is for us too. God invites us to come and meet His Son Jesus. The angel told the shepherds that Jesus was a Savior for all people. God sent Jesus into the world so He could take our sins on Himself and suffer the punishment we deserve.

CLIMAX: The shepherds came back after they told everyone of the good news, so they could worship the Baby.

CONCLUSION: Mary treasured everything that was happening to baby, the Son of God.

LESSON THIRTY ONE (31)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART 4: PHYSICAL WHOLENESS

BIBLE TEXT: Acts 3:1-10

MEMORY VERSE: Malachi 4:2 “But unto you that fear My name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth and grow up as calves of the stall”.

LESSON AIM: The children will learn to put their trust in God for healing.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: You should trust Jesus as the healer.

INTRODUCTION
Children! Do you know why we wear shoes? (give children room to contribute). We wear shoes to protect our feet. Can you imagine if you cannot walk? How will your life be? How will you move from place to place? There was a man who could not walk and spent his days begging for money at the temple but one day he had an encounter that changed his life.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Two of Jesus’ disciples, Peter and John went to the temple to pray.
  2. A man who was lame sat begging at the beautiful gate of the temple.
  3. The man begged Peter and John for money and Peter said he should look at them.
  4. The lame man thought that the disciples wanted to give him money so he looked at them.
  5. Peter said in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, stand up and walk.
  6. Peter took him by the hand and the man jumped up and began to walk.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: Being lame reminds me of you and me that is born with a want to sin. The word of God tells us that everyone is born with sin in his/her heart (Psalm 51:5). Sin makes us lame because it separates us from God and makes it impossible to walk with God and please Him. God in His infinite mercy because of the love He has for us sent His Son Jesus to die to take the punishment for our sins so that one day we can be raised with Him. (Ephesians 2:1-6).

CLIMAX: A lot of people were amazed to see him walking, jumping, and praising the Lord as he went into the Temple with Peter and John.

CONCLUSION: People ran to the man that was healed and he told them about Jesus.
