LESSON THIRTY TWO (32)
TOPIC: REVISION 5/SUMMARY

  • Revise the previous lessons with the children
  • Ask them questions to ensure lessons have been well understood

SUMMARY OF LESSONS 27-31
LESSON TWENTY SEVEN (27)
TOPIC: GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT DELIGHTS IN A GRATEFUL HEART

BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 3:4-17

MEMORY VERSE: Micah 3:8a “But as for me, I am filled with power, with the spirit of the Lord”.

LESSON AIM: The Holy Spirit is the power of God.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: You need the Holy Spirit and you must show gratitude to him.

INTRODUCTION: John 14:16, Act 1:8 Jesus gave the promise of the Holy Spirit for first the disciple then every believer. Who is the Holy Spirit? He is the third person of the trinity. He is the Spirit of Truth, your Helper, Teacher and Comforter. John 14:26. The Holy Spirit is the indwelling power of God in God’s children to guide and empower you to live right and He is your friend therefore you need to give Him gratitude.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. Now John himself was clothed in came us hair, with a leather belt around his waist and his food was locust and wild honey. then Jerusalem, all Judeah and all region around Jordan went out to him for baptism confessing their sirs. Vs 1-2
B. He told than to bear fruits worthy of repentance. And do not say they have Abraham as their father as God is able to raise up children to Abraham from stones (What is sin? Roman 3:23). Vs 3-10
C. He said “Indeed baptize you with water unto repentance but he who is coming after me is mightier than I “He will baptize you with the holy spirit and fire. vs 11-12 (Jesus Christ baptizes with Holy Spirit I promise the disciple the gift of the Holy Spirit which they receive Jesus as your Saviour, you have the spirit of God in you).
D. Then Jesus came from galilee to john at Jordan to baptized by him. But john tried prevent him saying “I need to be baptized by you and you come me? But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is full all righteousness” than he allowed him. Vs. 15 Who is Jesus? John 3:16.
E. When he had been baptized Jesus came up immediately from the water and behold, the heaven were opened to him, and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon him. “And suddenly a voice came from heaven saying “this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased (Jesus was sent by his Father to the world to die for your sin Heb 9:13 before he started his work on earth he was baptized, then announced by the holy spirit at river Jordan. you too need the baptism of the holy spirit, he is the power of God working in man. You have to be grateful to him residing in you to please God your father.) Vs16-17.

CONCLUSION: Act 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the holy spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

LESSON TWENTY EIGHT (28)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART: 1
SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS (GIFT OF THE SPIRIT).

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Samuel 2:12-3:21

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Timothy 2:21a “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the later, he will be a vessel for honour.”

LESSON AIM: God is the giver of spiritual gift.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: To receive spiritual gift from God, show Gratitude by obedience.

INTRODUCTION: When God sees you worthy, He bestow on you spiritual blessings as we see in the case of little Samuel in our Bible text I Samuel 2:12-3:21. God want to give you spiritual gift so that you can be vessel for honour for Him, but you need to make yourself clean by saying No to sin and be grateful to God for your salvation.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS.
A. Though Eli was priest, his sons disobeyed the Lord 2:12-17.

B. Eli spoke with his sons about their wickedness, but they did not listen 2:22-25 (Hophni and Phine has paid no attention when their father warned them about sinning against sin. The Bible says u have all sinned God, God is holy and cannot stand sin. The Bible says have all sinned Roman 3:23 but God in his great love made a way for us to be forgiven, he sent his son Jesus to take the punishment for your sin. John 3:16. Jesus died, he gave his blood, he was buried and on the third day. He rose again. He made the sacrifice for those who will listen and accept him. But Eli’s son were sinning and refuse to listen.

C. A prophet announced God’s Judgement on Eli for not disciplining his sons. v 27-36.

D. Young Samuel was also serving the Lord in the tabernacle v 13. 21 (Samuel’s mother promised God that if he would give her a son, she would give her son to serve God, God answered her prayer and she showed her Gratitude to God by return Samuel back to him Samuel grew in ways that please around him and God.)

E. Though God often spoke to men in early times before they had the Bible. He rarely did so during the year Sarnuel was a child. (God always speak to those who are ready to listen. For God to speak to you must live a pleasing life and be ready to listen. Hearing from God is a spiritual gift).

F. One night the Lord called Samuel v 2-5 (Samuel went to Eli thinking he was the one that called him, Eli sent him back to bed).

G. Two more times Samuel went to Ell, when it was actually God calling him v 6-9 (Samuel received a spiritual gift of hearing from God; God ordained him as a prophet. How will you feel to hear God call your name or speak to you? It can happen if your life gives gratitude to God.)

H. Hearing his name called again, Samuel responded to God vs 10. (Samuel was so excited to hear God today God can speak to you through his word in the Bible it may not only be by audible voice. when you read the scripture; stay alone for a while and think seriously about what you read and ask yourself these three question.

  1. What does it say?
  2. What does it mean?
  3. What is God saying to me?

When you read or listen to God’s word and you think or meditate about it God will help you to understand what he wants you to know.

I. God told Samuel he would judge Eli for his sons Wickedness v11-14

J. Fearful at first, Samuel finally told Eli God’s message as the old priest reassured him v 15-18 (Eli realized that God had chosen Samuel as a prophet and he accepted God’s message from him)

CLIMAX: Because Samuel continued to listen carefully to God was with him and spoke through him v 19.

CONCLUSION: whenever Samuel spoke for God, thing happened just as he reported, so soon all Israel know that God had chosen Samuel to be his prophet, v 20.

LESSON TWENTY NINE (29)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART 2; SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS (GIFT OF THE SPIRIT)

BIBLE TEXT: Acts 2:1-47

MEMORY VERSE: Act 1:8a “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: God is ready to give you spiritual blessing if you ask.

INTRODUCTION: Speaking in tongues is a Spiritual blessing and it is an evidence of in filling of the Holy Spirit and God’s power in a believer. After Peter received the Holy Spirit, he became bold and preached boldly that added thousands of souls to the church and many miracles were done through him. Ask for spiritual gift too.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. People from many countries had come to Jerusalem for the day of Pentecost v1-5,9-11.
B. Jesus disciple were also gathered together in Jerusalem vs 4, 5, 2:1 (The disciple waited for the Lord to fill them with the Holy spirit, so they can receive power to witness for him. Act 1:8).
C. Suddenly God sent the holy spirit there was a sound like a mighty wind what looked like little tongue of fire appeared and the disciples began to speak in other languages v. 2-4,6.
D. The amazed Jews from other lands heard God being praised in their own languages. V7-12.
E. Hearing them speak in foreign languages, some people made fun of the disciples, saying they were drunk v. 13.
F. Peter explained that this ability to speak in other languages was evidence of the holy spirit God had promised to send v 14-21.
G. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, peter told the people that it had been God’s plan for Jesus to be put to death and raised from dead. (Peter became bold to tell the people about Jesus, remember he once dangled Jesus, but after the gift of holy spirit, he has the boldness and courage to preach and teach the people about Jesus. if you have the holy spirit you will receive spiritual blessings).
H. When peter finished, the people convicted by God’s spirit, asked what they should do: peter told them to turn from their sin and call upon God to save them v 37-40. (You and I have sinned psalm 5:1 but God loves us and does not want us to be punished for our sin. John 3:16 so he sent his son Jesus to die for me and you. Jesus died to save us Hebrew 9:22b).

CLIMAX: about three thousand people were saved that day as peter witnessed by the power holy spirit. V.41.

CONCLUSION: The disciple centime together each day and more people were saved vs 47.

LESSON THIRTY (30)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART UNSPEAKABLE JOY

BIBLE TEXT: ACTS 1:3-12

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Peter 1:8b “Though now you do not see Him yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable full of glory” LESSON AIM: Keep believing in Jesus second coming.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Rejoice always in hope of Jesus coming back to

INTRODUCTION: Jane and Daniel were so excited they could hardly stand still as they watched for a glimpse of their dad. The few month had been gone seemed like forever. Then suddenly he was there and they were in his arm. After everyone calmed down a little, Dad said, “I’m pleased you both behaved well while I was away, I am proud to be your Dad”. Because of their good behavior the children were happy, not ashamed to see their Dad. For them it was an exciting day and they were greatly rewarded. This is going to be your experience in greater dimension when Jesus come back for you as you remain Holy with grateful heart.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. The pat forty days had been the most exciting of the disciples lives Vs.3 (The beloved master, the Lord Jesus had risen from the dead). (The Lord Jesus had been nailed to a cross to die a painful death. He gave His life because He was taking the punishment of your sin. God says everyone had sinned including you and me and the wages of sin is death. Romans 3:23,6:23a. Jesus was sinless in every way. He did not deserve to die. In His great love for you, Jesus suffered so that you can be forgiven of your sin. I Corinthians 15:36-4. Jesus is alive when the disciples realized Jesus had risen from the dead, they were excited).

B. The disciples saw Jesus alive during those forty days Vs.3 (The disciples talked with Him, ate with Him and saw in His hands and feet the scars were nails had held Him on the cross Luke 24:38-43).

C. When the disciples asked the Lord “Will you set up your kingdom at this time? He told them, ‘It is not for you to know”. Vs 6,7.

D. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with them Vs.4,5,8.

E. As He finished speaking, Jesus went up into the air, before their eyes Vs 9 (Imagine the disciple’s amazement when Jesus disappeared into the sky, He had gone! Even though He told them He was going, they did not feel ready to see Him leave. But Jesus is coming back again suddenly without warning, He said we should abide in Him that is stay close to Him so that you will not be ashamed before Him at His second coming John 2:28).

F. After a cloud took Him from sight the disciples stared at the sky Vs. 9-11.

G. Two angels appeared standing right there beside them Vs. 10.

H. The Angels said Jesus will return in the same way He has gone. VsII (Jesus is coming back again from heaven in a cloud. Make sure you live holy each day so that you will rejoice and not be ashamed at His coming. Ask Jesus to give you strength to say No to anything that will make you ashamed when He returns 2 Timothy 4:8)

I. The disciples left for Jerusalem to wait for the Holy Spirit Vs. 12

CLIMAX: The disciples were filled with joy over the promise that Jesus is coming back again Vs. 12, Luke 4:52 (This is the greatest joy for all believer including you and me). CONCLUSION: the disciples began to proclaim that Jesus is live and coming back again.

CHALLENGE: Are you filled with joy when you think that Jesus is coming back again? The thought of Jesus coming should filled you with unspeakable joy and should make you to give God thanks always because you have hope of eternal home. Do you love His appearing John 2:28. Remember, Jesus could come back any moment. Will you rejoice with joy unspeakable to see Him? Live Holy, live Godly! Shun sin.

INVITATION: To become God’s child and to live with Him in Heaven, you must believe Jesus died for your sin and receive Him as your savior. John 1:12.

LESSON THIRTY ONE (31)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART 4: PHYSICAL WHOLENESS

BIBLE TEXT: Mark 5:21-43

MEMORY VERSE: I Peter 2:24c “by whose stripes you were healed.

LESSON AIM: Jesus heals.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Trust God Jesus for your physical wholeness.

INTRODUCTION: 3 John 1:2 Beloved I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. God wants you to be in perfect health with physical wholeness if you are sick, call on Jesus to heal you. Exodus 15: 26c “For I am the Lord who heal you. As you continue to show grateful heart, God will give you physical wholeness.”

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. When Jesus returned to Capernaum on the west side of the sea of Galilee a large crowd gathered around him by the lake v. 31
B. Among them Jarius, a leader in the synagogue, pleading earnestly with Jesus to come heal his dying daughter v 22, 23 (Jarius came to Jesus believing that Jesus can save his daughter’s life do you have that much faith in Jesus power? Jesus is our healer I peter 2:24 says by His stripes we are healed Isaiah 53:5.)
C. As Jesus set out for Jarius’s home, something happened to delay him, a woman who had been sick for twelve years touched his clothes with faith that she would be healed and she was v 24-26
D. Jesus said stopped to ask who had touched him. And the woman fearfully told how she had been healed v 30-33
E. Jesus said that it was her faith in him that had made her well v. 34
F. The new came that Jarius daughter was dead v.35
G. Jesus challenged Jarius “do not be afraid; only believe v.36 (do you have some fears? The Bible tells us that fear is a torment and is of the devil. Therefore, is sin Roman 3:23 but God loves you and he gave you Jesus to take away your sin. John 3:16. if you have faith in Jesus and believe in him, he will save you from your sin Hebrew 9:22b Jesus told Jarius to keep on believing in his power).
H. When Jesus entered the house and said the child was not dead but only sleeping, those present laughed at him v 37-40.
I. Alone in the room with the three disciples and the child’s parents, Jesus took the girl by the hand and commanded her to get up v 40-41 (Whatever your problem, put your trust in the Lord Jesus and continue to give him gratitude.)

CLIMAX: God honoured Jarius grateful heart of faith by bringing his little girl back to life by his mighty power v 42.

CONCLUSION: Jesus told those present to tell no one what has happened and to give the girl something to eat v 43.
