[17]Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
[18]As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
[19]And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

INTRODUCTION: The bible is the written word of God, containing God’s T teachings, promises, and wisdom for His creations. It’s a timeless guidebook for living a life aligned with God’s will and purpose. It reveals God’s character, His love for you, and His plans and purpose for you. 2 Tim 3:16-17 tells us that Scripture is given by Gods inspiration to man and is profitable for the sole purpose of growth and maturity in good works (character).

B. HOW TO STUDY THE WORD OF GOD?
I. Pray before and after: Begin your study with prayer, asking God to illuminate His word and speak to you through it, and end your study with prayer, asking God to help you be a doer of His word.
ii. Meditate: Take time to reflect on what you’ve read, asking yourself how you can apply it to your life and seek God’s guidance in prayer.

v. Use Bible study tools: Use study aids like concordances, commentaries, and study guides to deepen your understanding of the text.

The S.O.A.P. method of Bible study is an acronym that stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Here’s a breakdown of each step:

  • Scripture: Choose a portion of the bible to read. It could be a single verse, a few verses, or a longer passage depending on your preference. Write down the passage you have chosen.
  • Observation: Meditate on the passage and write down observations about what it says. Consider things like the context of the passage, the characters involved, the events described, any repeated words or themes, and anything else that stands out to you.
  • Application: Think about how the passage applies to your life personally. Write down specific ways you can apply what you have learned to your own life.
  • Prayer: Finally, pray about what you have read and how you have been challenged to apply it. Ask God for help in living out the truths you have discovered and for guidance in your spiritual journey.
