It’s a timeless guidebook for living a life aligned with God’s will and purpose. The S.O.A.P. method of Bible study is an acronym that stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Here’s a breakdown of each step:
- Scripture: Choose a portion of the bible to read. It could be a single verse, a few verses, or a longer passage depending on your preference. Write down the passage you have chosen.
- Observation: Meditate on the passage and write down observations about what it says. Consider things like the context of the passage, the characters involved, the events described, any repeated words or themes, and anything else that stands out to you.
- Application: Think about how the passage applies to your life personally. Write down specific ways you can apply what you have learned to your own life.
- Prayer: Finally, pray about what you have read and how you have been challenged to apply it. Ask God for help in living out the truths you have discovered and for guidance in your spiritual journey.
