TOPIC: THE SANCTIFIER: JESUS

BIBLE TEXT: 2 Corinthians 3:18
[18]But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Ephesians 1:7-10
[7]In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
[8]Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
[9]Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
[10]That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 3:18 – “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

LESSON AIM: To enable teenagers understand the role of Jesus Christ in our Sanctification.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Jesus our sanctifier transforms believers into His likeness through the work of the Holy Spirit.

INTRODUCTION: Our Lord Jesus Christ was made the object of our sanctification when He died on the Cross of Calvary to pay the penalty for our sins and by Him we can gain access to God’s presence. His coming to the world, His death and resurrection began the process of Sanctification and opened the door to God’s kingdom to every believer -Hebrews 10:10.

STUDY GUIDE
A. WHO IS JESUS TO BELIEVERS?

  1. Timothy 2:5-He is our mediator
  2. Hebrews 4:15-He is our high priest.
  3. Colossians 2:9-10 – He is the head over every power and authority.
  4. Revelation 1:8-He is the Alpha and the Omega.
  5. Acts 4:12-Salvation can only be found in His name.
  6. 1 John 2:1-He is our advocate.
  7. Malachi 1:13-He is our Refiner and Purifier.

B. THE ROLE OF JESUS CHRIST IN OUR SANCTIFICATION
(Ephesians 1:7-10, 2 Corinthians 3:18)

  1. He sanctifies believers through His blood.
  2. He brings redemption and forgiveness of sins.
  3. He reveals God’s plan to unite all things in Christ by indicating His central role in the sanctification and redemption of humanity
  4. He transforms believers.
  5. He is our role model – Hebrews 12:1-2.

LIFE APPLICATION: The Bible says the wages of sin is death; when we surrender our lives to Jesus we are empowered through the Holy Spirit to overcome the power of sin and begin to live a Holy life. As we study and obey the Word, we shall begin to experience transformation.

CONCLUSION: Our faith in Jesus Christ and our belief in His death on the Cross for the penalty of our sins makes Sanctification possible for us as believers
