TOPIC: THE HOPE OF SEEING HIM

READ: 1 JOHN 3:1-10 (NKJV)

3:1. Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

3:2. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

3:3. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

3:4. Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

3:5. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

3:6. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

3:7. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

3:8. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

3:9. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

3:10. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor [is] he who does not love his brother.

THE MESSAGE:

God in hHis infinite mercies and love, has bestowed on us the privilege of being called His sons. This He achieved through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ which bestows the rights of sonship in His kingdom. One of such rights is that we shall be like Him and see Him face-to-face when He is revealed and this hope of seeing Him should compel us to live righteously and resist every ungodliness. To destroy the power and dominion of sin over man, is the main purpose Jesus came (Matthew 1:21). Jesus boldly declared, “It is finished”, when this great assignment was completed (John 19:30). On this note, the ransom for sin has been paid and we have been delivered from the bondage of sin.

Beloved, living in sin is a differentiating factor between a child of God and a child of the devil. John the Beloved declared, “He who does not continue to sin is of God while the one that goes on sinning is of the devil” (1 John 3:8). The good news is that Jesus has destroyed the devil’s power of sin and released grace to all who believe and accept Him, to live above sin and enjoy sonship rights.

PRAYER: I desire to see you Lord when Your plans are revealed. Please grant me the grace to live for Youur glory. Amen
