Are You Blaming Others?

BIBLE MEDITATION:

“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned…” (Romans 5:12)

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

Some would say that man is but the sum total of his environment and his body chemistry. If he does wrong, it’s because he’s like a computer that’s been wrongly programmed. If he was raised in a bad neighborhood, he shouldn’t be blamed for breaking into stores or robbing people or selling illegal drugs. Or if he has a vile temper, perhaps he had an overbearing mother or father.

According to behavioral psychologists, people behaving badly may be pitied but not blamed. They may be sick, but they’re not sinful. They may be weak but not wicked. They need some sort of a psychological adjustment rather than salvation.

But these social evaluators are wrong. If we don’t make a proper diagnosis, we’ll never come up with the right cure.

ACTION POINT:

Are you blaming others? Or instead, are you taking responsibility and coming to the Cross? “If we confess our sins, He if faithful and just to forgiven us our sins and is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
