BY FAITH; SPEAK LIFE

“Adam named his wife Eve because she would become the mother of all the living.” Genesis 3:20 (NIV)

The bible told us that Adam was not deceived, Eve was the one deceived (1 Timothy 2:14). And God came on the scene and began to proclaim judgment. He said to the serpent you are going to begin to start to crawl and the serpent began to crawl on the ground. God proclaimed judgment on the woman saying in sorrow you are going to bear children and your desire shall be of your husband. And to the man, God said, you will live a life of suffering. You will sweat and toil before you will eat.

This was not an interesting picture to behold. It was a picture of disaster and hopelessness for Adam and Eve. We thought faith began with Abraham. We call him the father of faith but, actually faith didn’t begin with him, it started with Adam. Adam could have said I am finished, or I am ruined. Nothing will ever work because God has just proclaimed a curse. But Adam looked at his wife in spite of the curse that was proclaimed and named her Eve – meaning you are living; you are not dead. Eve means life! Adam said Eve, I know that a curse has been proclaimed but I declare by the authority I have here on earth that you are alive.

Put on your imagination God Almighty has just spoken, Adam would have said period that settles it but here is a man that knew his authority. Here is a man who understood what God has just said but he refused to call the wrong thing. That picture before him was a picture of death but rather, he looked at his wife and said you are not just alive, you are the mother of all living!

Watch what God did unto Adam: “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” (Genesis 3:21 KJV) When you read it down, God now immediately began to organize protection for them and said no more death you will live. That situation will not kill you.
