COME DOWN TO THE VALLEY

“When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” Matthew‬

We must understand that the mountaintop is a good place to be, only if we understand the essence of being there. The mountaintop is not the place to reside. You don’t climb just to show the world that you have arrived. The mountaintop experience is much more than that. It is a place to connect with God, get refreshed, and be empowered to come down and help others.

A mountaintop is a place of clarity and revelation. When you stand on the mountaintop, you can see very far. It is a place that separates you from the multitude. However, it is not everyone that can climb the mountain. So, it is a place of exclusivity. As good as the mountaintop experience is, God does not expect you to live there.

Jesus is our perfect example. He constantly went up the mountain to pray. He never took His time of encounter with God for granted. However, He resolved people’s problems by coming down to the valley. In the valley, people with different kinds of needs came to Jesus because He came down to stay where they were staying. Notice that Jesus had to come down from the mountaintop before the people could come to Him. As a leader, it is amazing to be on the mountaintop, but you must come down and attend to the people.

Ascending the role of leadership requires focus, consistency, and determination. And whoever is occupying any leadership role must be able to touch lives in one way or the other. A leader must also possess the ability to connect with followers. Jesus can stand before the Father as our representative because He feels what we feel; in the same way as a leader, you must connect with those God has brought under your leadership.
