Topic: DILIGENCE – Bishop Mike Okonkwo Devotional 1 May 2023 The Redeemed Evangelical Mission

“The hand of the diligent will rule, but the slothful will be put to forced labor”. Proverbs 12:24 (AMP)

Happy Workers’ Day. Today, I celebrate all workers. Everyone who is doing something legitimate to earn a living, I celebrate you and I want to encourage you to be your best. You are in that office at a time like this for a purpose. No matter your position, you are a representative of Jesus Christ, so do the work with all the diligence that it deserves knowing that your ultimate employer is God.

Look at our scripture for today, it says the hand of the diligent will rule. Do you want to rule? Do you want to have control? Then be diligent. It is not about your boss or immediate supervisor; it is about you. Make diligence a core value and no matter where you find yourself, be diligent and the Lord who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Your promotion may not come in your current office; your current boss may not recommend you for the deserved promotion, but if you keep at it, sooner than later, God will announce you where you never imagined, and He will catapult you to the front. I have seen Him do it over and over, and I know He is still in the business of promoting the diligent.

Remember, promotion does not come from the South, East, or West, it comes from God, and He is ever able to exceed your expectation. So, don’t be one of those that serve only when the boss is around. Don’t be given to eye-service. Be the Daniel of today in that office, someone in whom is the excellent spirit. The workers around Daniel could not find fault in the way he carried out his assignment. He was a true representative of God in the workplace. Let that be your story.

Also, while working, keep improving yourself. Ensure you stay at the cutting edge and in touch with the rapid changes in our world today. You cannot sit on the success of yesterday; yesterday’s best is no longer good for today. Stay on top of your game, be the best and strive to improve consistently.
