HOW TO FIND WHERE IT IS WRITTEN OF YOU (1)

John 5:37-40 (NLT)

And the Father who sent me has testified about me himself. You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face, and you do not have his message in your hearts, because you do not believe me—the one he sent to you. “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life.

The basic way to find what God has spoken and written about you is to study and search the scriptures. But it is not enough for you to just study the scriptures. You must study the scriptures in the light of Christ and all He has done.

You are not in Adam and you are not like the people of the Old Testament. You are in Christ (2Cor.5:17) and you are in a realm much higher than the realm all the people of the Old Testament operated in (Matt.11:11); because you are in the kingdom, (Col.1:13). It is good to learn things and get hope from how God dealt with people of the Old Testament, but doing this alone will not give you a full picture of what God has written of you. The entire scriptures point to Christ and testify about His work of redemption. You are in Christ and you have been redeemed by His sacrifice on the Cross. Therefore, the scriptures also point to you and testify of you. As you study the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), see yourself in Christ doing what He was doing.

There are certain things that relate to the people of the Old Testament that do not relate to you, because you are in Christ and you are one with Christ, (1Cor.6:17, 1John 4:17). You must know how to draw that dividing line.

Prayer:
Father, I thank for putting me in Christ and giving me the life of Christ. Help me to see myself in Christ as I study the scriptures.
