LIFT UP YOUR SHIELD OF FAITH

Habakkuk 3:17-19, Ephesians 6:16 (TPT) Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.*In every battle, take faith as your wrap-around shield, for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the Evil One!

It is easy to quote our first text above and say, “Although the fig tree may not blossom….” But how often do we relate this to our unique experiences? Instead of fig tree, put something specific that you are engaged in, like an exam, an investment, a job interview, a marriage proposal, etc. Then tell yourself, “even if it does not initially yield the result I desire, I will not lose my joy. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.”

Our text above does not just say I will rejoice, it says I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! Because your victory over every situation in life is included in your salvation. The same God who saved you through Christ, will also intervene and save you in that situation. The fact that what you desire did not happen now, does not mean it will not still happen, (Prov.23:18). It will be bigger and better. Do not be discouraged. Lift up your shield of faith and guard your heart.

Many times, it is not just what happened that is the problem, but what the devil begins to tell us because of what happened. He begins to throw fiery darts at us. Telling us that we are failures, something is wrong with us, God is punishing us, we will never make it, etc. Especially when we allow the disappointment make us let our guards down. Beloved, that devil is a liar. Do not close your mouth and let him keep lying to you. Be alert. Lift up your shield of faith! Use your mouth to cast down that negative thought that wants to arise against the knowledge of Christ. Take it captive so it does not take you captive, (2Cor.10:4-5). As you use your mouth to condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment, no weapon formed against you shall prosper, (Isa.54:17).

Action Point:
Rejoice in the God of your salvation. Thank God that no disappointment can stop you. Declare God’s promises over your life.
