READ: 1 Samuel 24:1-22

As that old proverb says, ‘From evil people come evil deeds.’ So you can be sure I will never harm you.” – 1 Samuel 24:13 (NLT)

Take a look at these biblical examples showing us seven times David refused to attack someone who was anointed. Learn this valuable lesson of not attacking anyone upon whom God’s Holy Spirit rests.

Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Psalms 105:15

… The Lord forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord’s anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord. 1 Samuel 24:6

…and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the Lord’s anointed. 1 Samuel 24:10

And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless? 1 Samuel 26:9

The Lord forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the Lord’s anointed… 1 Samuel 26:11

… As the Lord liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the Lord’s anointed… 1 Samuel 26:16

… but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the Lord’s anointed. 1 Samuel 26:23

When King David died, he was remembered as the sweet and anointed psalmist of Israel: 2 Samuel 23:1. Instead of being remembered for his sins, he is remembered for the anointing. Instead of being remembered as a political and governmental leader, he is remembered as an anointed psalmist. If you honour the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit will honour you.
