MEMORY VERSE: “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” – 1 Corinthians 15:22 (scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 22 September 2019 HYMN)

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Corinthians 15:12-22 KJV (RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 22 September 2019)

12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Our Lord Jesus Christ has many names, some of which had been mentioned before His physical birth. For instance, Isaiah 9:6 calls Him Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, and the Prince of peace. An angel instructed that His name should be called JESUS- (Luke 1:31). During His earthly ministry, He called Himself ‘the Bread of Life’ (John 6:48). ‘The Living Brad’ (John 6:51). ‘The Way, The Truth and The Life’ (John 14:6). ‘The Light of the World’ (John 8:12). In Acts 3:15, Peter called Him ‘The Prince of Life’. Is Jesus the true source of life?

LESSON OUTLINES

1. JESUS, THE TRUE SOURCE OF LIFE
2. HOW TO ENJOY TRUE LIFE IN CHRIST

JESUS, THE TRUE SOURCE OF LIFETIME

The Scriptures establish the fact that in Jesus there is life; and the life is the light of men (John 1:4). Where there is light, there is always joy and brightness of the eyes. Therefore, when Jesus gives light, He invariably gives joy, restoration of hope and life to the people. For instance, He restored joy to the family when He raised Jairus’ daughter (Mk. 5:23-24, 35-42) and made while the woman with the issue of blood (Mk. 5:25-34). He healed a leper, giving him a better life. (Matt. 8:2-3). He restored the sanity of the madman of the country of the Gadarenes and turned him into an evangelist (Lk. 8:26-33, 38-39). He fed the multitude and saved then from hunger (Matt. 14:15-21). He restored hope to the widow of Nain by raising her only son from the dead (Lk. 7:11-15).

Furthermore, He saved that woman caught in adultery and reduced her from a brutal physical death and eternal separation from God (John 8:3-11). The man with infirmity for 38 years got healed when he met Jesus (John 5:1-14): Jesus told the man “sin no more, lest a worst thing come unto thee”.

We can draw an inference from this statement is that sin can be a pointer to sickness, affliction and oftentimes, death (James 1:15). This is why Jesus, the Prince of life, came into this world, lived pike men, tempted as we are, died to rescue us from the claws of death and rose to give us abundant life (John 10:10). Hence, salvation through Christ is the only guarantee for life eternal (Acts 4:12; John 3:16).

HOW TO ENJOY TRUE LIFE IN CHRIST

Through the offence of Adam, sin and death came into the world but we receive the offer of life through the righteousness of Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:17-18; 1 Cor. 15:21-22). If you feel hopeless, sad, confused, afflicted, you need Jesus (Matt. 11:28-30; Prov. 28:1).

If you have not totally surrendered your life to Jesus, you are still operating in sin. To enjoy true life, therefore, you should acknowledge that you are a sinner and cannot help yourself (Rom. 3:23, 5:12). Repent of your sins and confess them to God (Acts 3:16). Ask Jesus to take over your life and begin to live a new life (Lk.3:8a; 2 Cor. 5:17). Study the word of God and fellowship together with believers (2 Tim. 2:15; Heb. 10:25). You can live a godly life by allowing the Prince of life in your life today (Rev. 3:20).

CONCLUSION: Pray on your life issues, commit them to the hands of God. He will step in and restore your hope, joy and life to you but you must first be born again.
