Memorise: Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Revelation 2:4

READ: Luke 12:39-40

39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Bible In One Year: 1 Kings 10-11; Luke 24:1-35

MESSAGE:

A lot of people are sleeping spiritually without realising it. When you no longer pray for as long as you used to, you are sleeping. When you no longer read your Bible everyday as you used to, you are sleeping. When you conveniently sleep at night without praying, you are sleeping. You need to WAKE UP.

A sleeping Christian is a dying Christian. When you are sleeping, your eyes are shut so you have no idea what is going on around you. If someone is approaching you with a stick, you could be facing him, but you will not see him and it is until he has hit you that you will wake up. That is what happens when the devil brings a problem your way, then you will resume your prayers and Bible studies again because you want God to take the problem away. If God takes away the problem immediately, then you are lucky. So many people have opened themselves up to the attack of the enemy because they began to sleep spiritually. You don’t know when the devil is bringing his attack, stay awake.

Key Point:
The devil is always looking for sleeping Christians to attack. Be awake and alert.

Hymn 5:

1.Christian, seek not yet repose
Hear thy gracious Savior say;
Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray.

2.Principalities and power
Mustering their unseen array
Wait for the unguarded hours:
Watch and pray

3.Gird the heavenly armor on,
Wear it ever night and day;
Ambushed lies the evil one:
Watch and pray.

4.Hear the victors who o’ercame,
Still they mark each warrior’s way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
Watch and pray.

5.Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou loves to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word:
Watch and pray.

6.Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray.
