Text: Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 (KJV)
4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.
5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.
Key Verse: “In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whither shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good” (Ecclesiastes 11:6).
MESSAGE:
Prosperity has been the desire of many people, but it has eluded them consistently. Yet, many people that prospered on earth only did after many botched attempts. Thomas Edison found 1,000 ways not to create the light bulb before succeeding. Abraham Lincoln was demoted in the army, his businesses failed and he lost election eight times before being elected as United States’ president. Walt Disney the successful American film producer was fired from a newspaper as he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” Bill Gates did not even complete his university education and Albert Einstein’s teacher called him slow, mentally handicapped and he could not even speak until he was four years old; he could not read until he was seven years old! The strong desire to succeed overrode all the failure traits and weaknesses they might have had to become great personalities.

The Scripture warns against despondency and procrastination on the basis of uncertain weather conditions and forecasts. It encourages us to persevere in whatever we do without giving up if we must be winning believers.
The key word that aptly captures all these is ‘resilience’: this is the mental ability to recover quickly from depression and misfortune. Many surrender as a result of a misfortune or a catastrophe. Human rejection or retardation can become a pedestal to a higher plane. Doggedness, tenacity, persistence and perseverance are required to be able to win.
Often times, with just a little step to prosperity and breakthrough, some people just give up! Success does not always come on a platter of gold nor on our first attempt; if we are persistent enough we will surely reach the Promised Land.
Thought For The Day: Don’t give up; God hasn’t given up on you!
