DON’T FORSAKE GOD’S MERCY
Jonah 2:7-10
When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
Being conscious of God’s faithfulness and mercies in your life fills you with hope and strength and it also attracts more manifestations of God’s faithfulness and mercies in your life. The Bible says, “To him that has, more will be given; and to him that doesn’t have, even what he has will be taken from him,” (Matt. 25:29). This means that when you value what you have, you will make good use of it and it will multiply and increase. And when you don’t value what you have, you will despise it and you may end up losing it completely. God wants us to value His mercy. He wants us to desire and trust Him for the manifestation of His mercies in our lives. God’s delight is not in our strength or connections; He delights in those who hope in His mercy, (Psa. 147:10-11).
When you refuse to pray, you are forsaking the mercy of God. God wants you to come boldly to His throne of grace to obtain His mercy and find His grace to help in your time of need, (Heb. 4:16). Never allow God’s goodness to others to make you despise His faithfulness and mercies in your life. Jonah didn’t want to go to Nineveh to minister to them because he was jealous of the mercy God could show them. Jonah didn’t understand that it was even by the mercy of God that he had the opportunity to go and minister to them. Don’t compare yourself with others and begin to feel like God is not faithful and merciful to you.
Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the flow of your mercies in my life. I yield myself to you. Thank you for the greater things I will experience.
