CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Be a bold and confident child of God.

INTRODUCTION: Dear Jesus, I want to learn to have positive out look on life, please show me ways I can think good thoughts instead of bad thoughts and see the bright side in every situation. Amen. Always remember to forget the things that made you sad, but never forget the things that made you glad.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT
A. At Israel’s request, Moses sent twelve spies into Canaan to learn about the land and its inhabitants 13:1-20.
B. The spies reported that the land produce plentiful crops, but that the inhabitants included giants and the city was fortified 13:21-29 (God prepared a wonderful place for the Israelites to live, but to claim it for themselves, they would have to trust God. There is a far more wonderful place which God has prepared for you to live someday.it is called heaven, but you can’t go there the way you are, heaven is a perfect place and no sin can be there, since you and I are born with sinful hearts Isaiah 59:2, because God loves you so much, He made a way so you can have your sin forgiven John 3:16, He sent Jesus Christ who came and died for your sin, He took your punishment for sin 2 Corinthians 5:21, how wonderful to know that you can live in a special place God had prepared for you. God had prepared a wonderful place on earth for the Israelites, could they trust him in order to claim it?
C. While the spies insisted it would be impossible to take the land, Caleb was confident that they could conquer it 13:30-33 (ten out of the twelve spies brought a bad report to Moses they have low self esteem and said “There saw giants the descendants of Amak and were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight, they saw themselves as little despite the promise of God to give them the land, they devalued themselves. Do you have low self-esteem or high self-esteem of yourself?
D. Joshua and Caleb urge the people to believe God and take the land, but the rebellious people threatened to kill them 14:5-10, Joshua and Caleb have high self-esteem they believe God will help them and that they are able to possess the land, they were confident in God’s Promises.
E. Moses interceded for Israel to save them from God’s fierce judgment because of their unbelief and low self-esteem despite his promises for them. 14:11-19, (God wants His children to have high self-esteem to believe in their abilities to succeed in any given assignment, and to have a positive mind set.)
F. God decreed that Israel should wander thirty eight more years in the wilderness until the adults of that generation had died 14:20- 29.
G. Only Joshua, Caleb and those under age 20 would be permitted to enter the land after the wilderness wandering. 14:30-35.

CLIMAX: Because of their low self-esteem, fear and stubbornness, the people could never enter into the land that God desired to give them. (God does not want you to see yourself less than who He made you).

CONCLUSION: The ten doubting spies (low self esteem) were killed immediately by plague 14:36-38

CHALLENGE: The Israelites were so close to enjoying all that God had for them, but now, because of fear, low self-esteem and stubbornness and unbelief many more years of suffering and death awaited them, if only they had believed in God and His promises for them instead of fear and low self-esteem as a child of God, will you always see your self as Gods sees you, will you “wait” and acknowledge God’s help in your life? God wants you to be confident in Him and trust Him to help you in everything. Always have a high self-esteem, be positive! Proverbs 3:5-6

INVITATION: Trust God to take away your sin by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and your Saviour.
