LESSON TWENTY EIGHT (28)
TOPIC: SELF ESTEEM
BIBLE TEXT: Jeremiah 1:4-10
[4]Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
[5]Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
[6]Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
[7]But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
[8]Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
[9]Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
[10]See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 3:5 “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God”
LESSON AIM: The children will find their confidence and self-esteem in God’s abilities and what He had done for them.
CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to depend on Jesus abilities.
INTRODUCTION: Wonderful children of God! Do you know me? I want you to come up with a unique fact about yourselves, something you do not think others would know, there are always things we may not know about one another. But there is someone who knows more about us than even we do! That is God.
PROGRESSION OF EVENT: Jeremiah 1:4-10
- Jeremiah was young when God called him to become a Prophet
- He was nervous because he didn’t think people would listen to him or trust him, being just a child.
- But God assured him that He would be with him, and that he would help him deliver the Lord’s messages.
- God comforted Jeremiah by reminding him that his power came from above.
- God promised to give Jeremiah the exact words He would have him speak
GOSPEL CONNECTION: God’s promised of a Savior came with Jesus coming into the world to take the punishment our sins. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice by dying on the cross, was buried and came alive again on the third day. If you ask Jesus to come into your life as Lord and Savior, God can you give you the exact words to say
CLIMAX: Then the Lord touch Jeremiah’s mouth and put His words in it
CONCLUSION: God told Jeremiah that He had set him above everything
CHALLENGE: God is with us! He cares about us and loves us. There’s a lot about the future that is uncertain and will give us the strength to do His work. God has given us His words in the Bible. When you trust God’s words, and pray daily, you can be in touch with God and understand what He wants for and from you.
CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: This week, depend on God to get things done INVITATION: You need to believe in the Lord Jesus and be saved (Acts 16:31)
